Hope this isn't a stupid question but I have never learnt much about spine of the arrow? I am shooting a mathews mission craze at 25" draw and 65# draw weight, I shoot 100grain heads. I was told to use 500 spine arrows so that's what I use. Is that correct or should I be using a different spine, also what difference does it make and that does the spine number actually mean. Thanks

the spine is the stiffness of the arrow shaft. the smaller the number the stiffer the arrow. ie. 340 is for fast shooting bows on high poundage, 500 is for slow bows on lower poundage. I think a 500 shaft is a bit too flexy for your setup. if I were you id be shooting a 400 spine.

With your arrow length I would use a 400 spine if you had a longer arrow maybe 27"+ and what people refer to as a "speed bow" I would use 300 spine Gold Tip's with a 20 f.a.c.t. weight and with a four fletch pattern. That's what I use but for now I have to wait to shoot them.

A lot depends on the length of your arrow also.

If your shooting 24 or 25" shaft I think you can get buy with the 500 with only 100 grain up front.
If your shooting a 26" shaft I think your better served with a 400.
