How many of y'all conceal carry a boot gun? What gun? ...Trying to decide what handgun is a good piece to carry. I usually carry a 45 cal with an in-the-pants holster at my lower back, but in many instances I can't do that. Thought about a Ruger LCP 380... but not a huge fan of 380s. For those that boot carry, what's your weapon of choice?

"If" I were to carry a boot gun it would be my PF9, small enough to fit in my back pocket. IMO I would chose a small single stack 9mm over a 380.

Why your boot? I carry almost daily and can't think of a situation where a boot gun would be an advantage?

While driving I could see a boot holster being very beneficial, just due to the position of your body. Would be harder to pull with a waist holster IMO

Why would you need to shoot someone while driving? This is also why I have another handgun in the center console.

A .380 is more then enough to put any man on the ground. Remember... First shot is like getting hit with a baseball bat... Second is like getting hit with a VW Bug...

I dont ever want to loose sight of the bad guy. I would hate to reach down to my boot to retrieve a gun and loose my tactical visual advantage.

I have a holster mounted just below the steering wheel, easy to reach. I usually just leave the judge there.

I guess not "driving" but in the drivers seat, only flaw I see now is the seat belt locking up if you move to quickly. Boot gun is relatively to conceal as well.

The point to a boot gun (easily done with cowboy boots) is for situations where a side holster, in-the-pants holster, or under arm holster cannot be concealed and due to the situation you aren't to have a gun in plain sight. This leaves a pocket holster or a boot holster. In my opinion a boot holster would be more comfortable.

I agree completely... but I'd rather have an handgun that's awkward to drawn to protect a life than no handgun at all.

If you lean forward for the boot you would have a better visual and more concealment of your body when in a vehicle, at least in my truck.

Tons of variables you have to look at but, if you do get a boot holster I recommend a single stack 9mm, just as small as most 380 which makes it just as easy to conceal but packs a bigger punch.

Yes... leaning towards a single stack 9mm solely for purpose of boot carry. Was just curious what others were sticking in their boots.

Been pondering this Smith 9mm... no experience with it, but it catches my eye. Slim, short, can get it with or with a thumb safety, and it's striker fire. Anybody have any fire hand experience with this one?

    Product: Smith & Wesson M&P SHIELD? 9mm

I would say with numerous choices the guns I carry most often are .380 auto. NOTHING I have seen from ballistic tests to my own eyes at the range tells me a civilian would ever likely encounter anything that wouldn't stop doing what it was doing if it took a .380 self defense round.

As for the ankle I would say my S+W Airweight would be best. No hammer to snag and simple design. Grab and go.

My Glock 42 with the $20 holster from the glock store is such and easy carry though I would most likely never use an ankle myself.

I have a sig in .380 that's a smooth easy carry as well.......and for power I can always tote my Springfield XDS in 45 ACP which is a great carry option as well.
