People need to stop acting like what we all saw didn't happen. Dez made the catch, lunged for end zone, hit the ground and ball popped out. The fact that it isn't a catch by NFL standards is accurate. But the NFL standards are outrageous, stupid & need to be changed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Great day for football! My Colts took down the Broncos and the Cowboys lost so I get a free lunch next week!
I'm pretty happy with the results this weekend. As a Chiefs fan, I know the pain of the Colts knocking my team out of the playoffs. I'm just glad the Donkey's can also share in that pain!
He'll play next year. He wants the records. The question is whether or not he restructures his contract so they can keep some of that talent around him.
OMAHA OMAHA!!! Love watching that guy choke in the playoffs!! He has 9 yea count em 9 one and done playoff games. Pathetic..... I was 3 outta 4 in my picks. I picked Carolina.... Lol! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Can somebody honestly say with a straight face that he did not lunge forward and extend himself to try to score? ... "football move"? It's that simple. 3 feet down, a push off his left foot at the end and a lung to extend to the goaline? I'm sure there is a "football move" in there somewhere lol. Biggest robbery i've ever seen in football. I think the call a week ago had a big factor. No way they were catching heat for being on the Cowboys side again. An obvious catch.
As a Packers fan, I'll be happy with the fact that they called it a non-catch exactly as it states in the rule book. The real question is would it have mattered that much...Dallas no doubt would have scored a TD on the next play to go up 27-26, and depending on what they would have done on the 2-pt conversion either gone up 3 or stayed up only one. Rodgers and the offense would have gotten the ball back needing only a field goal to tie (worst case), with around 4 minutes left and at least 1 time out left, plus the 2-minute warning. No way I see the Dallas defense stopping Rodgers the way they were playing in the 2nd half, especially in the 4th quarter. While it's going to be a controversial call either way....in the end I don't think it really would have mattered. Now bring on the Seahawks!
Here's my take on it. Lets forget the rule book right now because they have muddied the water with so many different rules, it's just about impossible for anyone to figure out what is or is not a catch. He got three steps in as he was falling. His thigh hit the ground before the ball. He had been contacted by the defender, so to me he should have been down to second his thigh hit the ground. Having three steps down is a catch to me, what happens after that would be a ground caused fumble, but since he had been contacted, that's down by contact. To me, a football move would be turning his body toward the goal line and getting that 3rd step down. It does appear the ball contacted the ground, but he never actually lost total control of the ball. I think the NFL needs to go back to the drawing board and let common sense back into the rule book. I'm not a Dallas fan, in fact I'm glad they lost, but that's two extremely questionable calls in two weeks that has shaped the playoffs. I'm pretty sure the NFL doesn't want questionable rules and questionable calls to be the focus. By rule they may have gotten it right, but it doesn't mean the rule is right.
