I thought the 5.38 lbs was scary. Wonder why so heavy. Probably doesn't matter much in the long run, but if your a guy that likes heavy accessories that things going to be tiring by the time it's all said and done.
I just not seeing why the price is so high? Nothing special about the bow other than it has a 350 IBO.
That is a true statement...but sure aren't getting much for that price. Especially on an aluminum riser.
Its a 35" AtA bow and the riser is 32". Its also 7000 series aluminum. I had the chance to shoot it, all I can say is that this bow is a shooter. The weight is really a non issue because of how well this bow balances. Quiet and vibe free like the HTR. By far the smoothest DC of any 350+ bow I've ever shot and they're doing it at 85% let off. It's amazing what Mathews has to do to achieve similar speeds of other manufacturers bows. And there is always some caveat to achieve the advertised speeds. E.G with 75% left-off etc....
I wonder how many people gave actually shot it? Yes on paper it doesn't look special compared to the full throttle but maybe it shoots way better? I just think it's hard to bash specs before you shoot it. I think they put the weight on for noise and vibration reduction as well as to make it steadier and more accurate since the brace height is less forgiving? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
There is no caveat needed. The XLR8 and MR5 were 360+ bows at 80% let off and 33" AtA. The Omen had a slightly faster IBO at 70% let off. The new Wake is 2" longer with more let off and shooting 350+. How many bows out there are matching that? SCFox
I'll start by saying there is a discrepancy. The specs in the pic in this thread do not match the specs on Mathews website nor do they match what was said on a video (can't recall which one). Monster® Wake? | Mathews Inc. Brace Height 5" Draw Weight 40, 50,60, 70 & 80 lbs Bow Weight 5.38 lbs Let-off 75% & 85% Draw Lengths 25-30" Half Sizes 25.5-29.5" Riser Length 32.28" IBO Rating Up to 355 FPS at 75% Let-Off I find it hard to believe there is only 3 FPS difference between the bow with 75 and 85 % let off. Axle-to-Axle 35" MSRP $1,699 There are quite a few other bows on the market that are 340+ FPS with a higher left off, better brace height, short axle to axle, much lighter, less expensive, achieving similar results. On paper I don't see a wow factor. I am not sure I am even interested in shooting one with a MSRP of $1700.
I realize that the early releases of this bow had 75% listed. In the 2015 product catalog, 85% is the only option. I'm with you, if it was offered with 75's, there should more than a 3 fps increase. However, it doesn't appear that 75's are an option. As far as specs go, there have been plenty of bows with specs that didn't appeal to me, but after shooting them, you figure out that specs mean nothing if you don't shoot them yourself. I'm not trying to justify the price, but that a lot of aluminum and it's 7000 series to boot. The riser takes 3 hours of machining time, so a price increase is expected. I can't think of any bows on the market now that are hitting this speed at 35" AtA. IMO, I feel the Wake is just a precursor of what's to come and what their new platform is capable of. How about an HTR riser with the DYAD cam system hitting 340+? I'm all in. SCFox
I've only owned one bow that was under 32", most have been 33-34". Right, wrong, or otherwise, it's what feels best for me. Never had an issue with tree stands or ground blinds. It's what I'm used to. So an extra inch wouldn't be a problem. Now granted, I haven't bucked the Wake through the woods, but my hunting rigs usually finish out at 7 lbs or a little more so I guess I wouldn't have to add much to the Wake. SCFox
its a scary price!! but I'm not to worried about the brace height. and im not a huge fan of speed...im more of a smooth quiet kinda guy. so idk ill wait and shoot it maybe ill buy it
