Does anyone have any experience with broadcast feeders? I just hung one up today in hopes of putting down a late season doe or two. I've never baited so I was curious as to how long it would take for deer to begin using it consistently. I have it set for only one time (2:00PM) since I probably wont have a chance to morning hunt the spot. I also have the timer set for 10 seconds. How long would you wait to hunt near it?
Once they find the feeder they will be there almost every night. Doesn't take long here. 2-3 days max... I have had better luck setting feeders in the timber. They need to feel secure.
Thanks for the input. I set it up in the timber along the edge of some thick laurel bedding area. Have you ever noticed them showing up right at feeding time? Or do they just stop to eat as they pass through around sun down?
I agree with Heckler- it won't take them long to find it and once they do they will keep coming back. For us, though, we have similar results no matter where we put them
And a lot of what we do is set the feeders up in the open and then hang a tree stand about 50-100 yards in the woodbine and catch them on their way to it before dark
10 seconds seems like a long time. We have them come in when it goes off some come at all times. On opening day had twenty hogs come in as soon as it went off.
