My vacation is finally here. I am determined to sit dark to dark every day for the next 10 if that's what it takes. First goal is to actually see deer while on stand

After that I am not ruling out shooting a doe at any point if I feel it is not detrimental to do so.

Tuesday night I saw my first buck of the year, it was a basket 6 or 8, couldn't tell at distance. Been out almost every day except Thursday this week. Going to make it happen in the next week.

Put one down today, he isn't going to score much but happy with him just the same. Have to pick up the skull cap tomorrow and will get him scored and entered.

Way to go CLS, that is a great buck! Congrats man!

This week consisted of bad luck for me, from hunters encroaching on my spots, to farmers mowing, logging, and families taking strolls through the woods. Bucks are moving in my area, just need to keep putting in my time. Good luck guys.

    Awesome! Congrats!

The cold is here in South Dakota. Wind chills of 0 are on tap for the rest of the week. This might be my chance.

    Thanks guys.

Think they're locked down in my(uncles) woods. Had a button buck, a couple spikes and a doe fawn the size of a house cat in range but elected not to shoot.

Now I'm not seeing anything in range. 3 days left before returning to work and then gun season is next weekend.

Going to be down to the wire, this cold really didn't help things the way I expected.

I had a decent couple of sits myself today. Had a 3pt come trotting in this AM, as he left my sight a 5pt came trotting in behind him. I let out a few grunts and he walked 12 yards from the base of my stand, as I "mahhed" to stop him, he spooked and I never let an arrow rip. Incredible high to an incredible low in a nano second. That is hunting.

Afternoon hunt yielded the same 3pt I saw in the morning running 4 does around the field. He gave me a shot at 25 yards which I elected to pass. Will be back at it tomorrow morning.

I just realized I never posted my doe, will put it up when I get home today. Still plugging away here in ks..my illinois hunt was tough, only had one real opportunity at a good one and couldn't get a shot. Sorry I have been absent...

Very nice footage cunning! That slow motion of the blood splattering as the arrow hit was insane!

Way to keep knocking down deer!

My rifle season passed without me tagging one. I'm back in archery mode until the season closes around Christmas.

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. Been pretty busy. Shot a buck on the 14th and haven't had a chance to get him posted. I scored him myself and wanted to post everything here to see if you guys agree with everything before I add him to the score card. Read it over and let me know what you think.

Thanks Mr. O. I thought this was one of the bucks that I passed up a few days earlier and named Lucky. However Lucky has a kicker on his G2 not his 3. Not as big as I thought he was. Bad thing is I passed up two bigger than him.
It all happened pretty quick. He came in with a doe and was chasing off two smaller 8 pts. she led him to me at 12 yds. I got in a hurry and hit him a bit far forward. Caught the shoulder and didn't get much penetration, arrow broke off about 10' from where I shot him. got down and checked for blood and couldn't find any. Headed back to the house for coffee and a bit to eat and left him lay until about noon. Started off in the direction he went with no blood. Finally found one drop about the size of a pin head 75 yds from where I shot him. Continued going the direction I thought he went and kept finding small drops. Was pretty down thinking I had botched the shot but thought it looked like he was headed to a bedding area. Ended up finding him about 200 yds from the stand in the worst place on my property he could have been. Took 1 1/2 to get him 500 yds. Was a HUGE relief to find him, only my 2nd buck with a bow.
Ended up weighing 190 dressed as a 3 1/2 yr. old
