Does anyone else use an on camera monitor? I was looking at these and thinking maby a 5" externaly mounted monitor would be easier to see. I sometimes have trouble seeing the small screen on my cam especially if its sunny outside!

I'll be following this thread as I have similar problems with my camera. Sometimes I have to keep adjusting the viewing screen upwards because I often lose what I'm capturing since the screen is so small.

Yes from time to time. In a tree not very often but in a ground blind i use one quite often. I almost always use it when using my Canon 7D. I have the Small HD AC7 monitor with Canon battery adapter plate.

Are most powered by the camera? I have the Canon XA10 and is a LANC connection to cam?

No. They have their own power source. They connect to the camera through an HDMI cable. They make framing the shot and focusing much easier.

Found a good link, music sucks but a good walk through! Im only wanting to do this with a 5" monitor though. Would make seeing what im filming a lil easier. Havent mastered shooting with bi focals yet!

Lmao TY! The part I struggle with is when game is far off in wooded area, trying to zoom in and find it on small screen!
