Like to hear from all you hunters whether you think Whitetail Deer hunting is better in the mornings or afternoon-evening times. I'm hearing different opinions. Thanks!

I love the morning hunts. Evenings are better in the early season though

If you look at the statistics more Boone and crocket deer were taken in the evenings. Personally I like evening sits better. I can sneak to my stand easier and normally they're bedded down when I'm approaching stand. In th mornings you never know where they might be sometimes I spook them on my way in.

I prefer evenings but the issue with family and work is I have to hunt when I can.

Where I hunt, evenings are a lot better. I hunt a lot more evenings than mornings but mornings are real slow usually when I do go. It is hard to get in without bumping deer in the mornings due to the large fields which may play into it somewhat but even the cameras don't show much morning activity.

Everywhere I hunt is more productive in the morning, but can still have success in the evening. I prefer the morning hunts for a couple reasons.

your not hearing "different opinions". You're hearing how things vary from place to place, and how not every deer herd or even every piece of property is identical.

You may be more successful at one point in the day based on your proximity to bedding or food. Or based on your proximity to travel routes to and from these things.

There are just too many variables to say that one time of day is best for hunting whitetail deer. Where I hunt its slightly better chance of getting a deer in the evening, however I've taken my biggest deer in the morning. Which is "best" is hard to say.

Also, don't overlook the impact that you have on your chances. If your property requires you to walk through fields to get to your stand, mornings could be a little frustrating. Good entrance and exit routes will greatly impact the number of deer you are seeing.

That is true.....BUT....more of the REALLY big (200+) deer in the book were killed in the AM than pm....there are a lot of really big deer in the record books that list between 8 & 10am

Ive never taken a deer in the morning. My experience, bow, & rifle have all come in late afternoon/early evening. I've hunted both over the years although, these days with years of unsuccessful morning hunts, I pretty much just hunt afternoons/early evenings now. Seems to be when they are the most active in my area.

I enjoy hunting in the morning more but, evening hunts have been more productive for deer sightings.

I've killed more deer in the evenings but have seen more mature bucks in the morning. I hate missing a morning in November.

I like mornings just because it is harder to track and field dress at night than morning. having said that I do see more in evening .

100% depends on the property and how you are related to bedding.

it completely depends what you are hunting over. Food? Late evening. Bedding areas/heavy cover-Probably better suited to morning hunts. I'm on a travel corridor between food and heavy CRP cover, typically better mid-morning.
When the rut starts and pressure increases, all bets are off.

I like evenings except in November. Mornings are generally a little better for me then.
