i was around 30-35 hrs till I shot my buck. and I wasn't even in my stand when I shot him. I walking to my stand when he decided to show himself.
0. And it's killing me. Promotion at work has me busy. But I've got vacation slated for the 2nd week of November.
10 hours over two sits. Less than normal at this point. Opening weekend was too hot and my wife was out of town last week. Hoping for Saturday morning.
5 sits (all in september) - for 20ish hours. I haven't hunted 1 day in October yet! WOW! That is all about to change on Friday!
I've been in stand/blind 17 times so far this season for just over 51 hours. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Bear hunting- 9 hours (3 hunts) and got a bear. Whitetails- 3 hours, one hunt so far. Had 8 does and fawns at 7 yards. One tag here only.
Around 100 hours since the opener on October 1st. 40 sits @ average of 2.5 hours per sit. Only sat out 3 days due to weather. All day sits coming shortly.
I do keep a deer log on my phone (going back to '08) on spreadsheet that I import to excel each year. This year has been very easy - 0 hours for me I did log 30 minutes in youth season as my son shot his first deer 30 min into the hunt. What I like most about log is that I track date, time, # bucks, # does, # deer under 30yds, wind direction, temp, moon, and stand location. Having enough years now it's amazing to see the trends with does far outnumbering bucks in Oct (you'd think doe/buck is 10/1)...and then for a 2 week period in Nov I see very few does and lots of bucks...some days a 1/10 doe/buck. Kids and activities have now gotten in the way, but used to do a good job of hunting most of Nov (before/after work)...the logs show the number one day to be out for buck sightings is Nov 12th...with the 11th, 12th, or 13th being the peak buck day over a 5 year period (regardless of moon phase).
Started Oct 4th, Have been in stand 4 times since for total of 25 hours. Last year I sat for over 50 hours and only saw 3 deer!
This is the kind of data I'm looking to accumulate with my journal. I have an idea of when my best sits take place, but seeing it on paper will help me find some patterns. Also, I'd love to have my kids read it someday and see what I was experiencing in the woods. I'd kill to read a journal that my dad kept, but he never did. His stories often go "Ohhh, it was 1996 or 1997, I think at the end of October."
All I know for sure is not enough. If I figured it up I think it would probably be somewhere around 15. I've seen plenty of deer, but mostly all fawns and really young bucks- so no deer down yet.
4 hours. By the end of Friday next week though it should be knocking 30 unless I get something. Been a weird year for me.
I don't keep a journal or a log of any sort, but since the PA opener I've sat for at least a few hours on every legal day except for 2. Between archery deer and archery bear season, I generally only have 2-4 days when I'm not in the woods. Probably in the ballpark of 70 hours so far
