To all the mock scrapers. Are you focusing on the dirt/ground? After years of study and experimenting, its becoming more and more evident that I get far better (and faster) responses to my mock scrapes by not making a scrape at all. After turning my attention to an overhanging branch, I found that I get the scrape (a real scrape) under the branch for free.

While developing a forehead glandular licking branch scent (or mock rub scent) I learned that I didn’t need to do anything to the dirt below the branch since it’s the branch that is the communication signpost. By attracting deer to the signpost, they take it over and make a scrape below the branch.

A while back I sought out product testers from a variety of states to evaluate the effectiveness of the latest recipe. I contacted video trail cam users here and on other sites and exchanged product for input/comments and footage of the deer in their area interacting with the scent.

One evaluation site is in Ohio. The evaluation at this branch was conducted between Sept 19 and Oct. 2. The tester (Caleb) then mailed me the SD card from his cam. There were a lot of 15 second videos so I stitched them together to create this 5 minute video. Like Wisconsin deer, Ohio deer focus on the branch and the site becomes territorial for some deer. Once the rut kicks in, the social networking branch becomes a scrape site and rubs begin to show up nearby.

If you are focusing on the dirt below and raking and applying scent (most likely pee) you may wish to bypass that and focus more on a suitable branch location near your stand. If you must, you can rack up the dirt if you like (since deer are attracted to fresh/raw earth) but you may experience increased action if you focus on the branch more than the ground. Let them create the scrape for you.

The video contains fighting, rubbing, bedding, scraping and a lot of branch action.

I bought some of your product and anxious to try it. As far as I understand, I don't have to wait for the rut to use it. Is it true?

correct, to condition the deer to visit your site you should have really started it weeks ago but its never too late to start one. The purpose is to get them coming to your branch so they get accustomed to visiting in the safety of dark so that when they are on their feet in the rut they see the branch as a safe place to communicate but they don't know you have evil intentions for them when they show up during the day.

I will have to supply a direct Paypal purchase link. That'll teach Ebay to put seller limits on people. (I reached my seller limit for the month so thanks to everybody for the purchases). My bottle supplier screwed up as well so Im down to my last 12 bottles. send me an email to [email protected] and I will send you a direct link to a paypal purchase. (limit one per address until I get this nonsense sorted out. plus this link does not allow me to provide shipping discounts for more than one bottle so you would get poked in the eye for shipping additional bottles.)

    Sorry for the inconvenience.

Its a tinctured (expressed) gland scent made from buck scalps (collected post mortem from a few taxidermists I work with that do euro mounts of big bucks.) Its forehead and preorbital gland in a gel media.
