I have a buddy I've been teaching to bow hunt. I have been working with him to set realistic expectations. Well last night I sit him in stand with me, first time he's ever even been in the woods, mature doe comes in at 8yds and he smacks her. 45 mins later he shoots this small buck. Tagged out in a few hours.
It will probably never go that way again. Good for your buddy, and good for you for sharing the passion.
Explain to him that the sophomore jinx can bite, and bite really hard. Then hand him the recipe for tag soup.
Congrats to him, the smile says it all. He'll be back next year and will learn just how different a year can make things. Good thing is once he learns how tough it can really be, he'll stick with it knowing how rewarding it feels. Not many get to feel that rush their first time out
awesome and congrats for being such an awesome friend and introducing your buddy into bowhunting... good karma will come your way for sure
Took my one buddy out turkey hunting for the first time several years ago behind his house.. we were done in 30 minutes.. told him. " this isn't true turkey hunting" 4 years since he has gotten just one more turkey
