Saw a couple young bucks over the weekend. Saturday night I had a chance at a doe (5 yards) I had 9 under me but got busted drawing back. To many eyes below! I could of took a 35 yard shot but i'll wait for a better opportunity. Other than that the spot is loaded with deer saw 20 total sat. night. Two bucks on cam I would prob. shoot but nothing special. 100 inchers.

I pulled my camera last night. It was set up on an area with a huge white oak that is dropping acorns, and I planted some oats around it as well. I had 117 pics in a week. Mostly coons, possums, squirrels and pics of nothing. I had 3 deer pics..... all fawns. Needless to say, not real excited to get in a stand at the moment. Our youth season is this weekend so I'll probably stay in and hang out with the family. Once it gets into late October, I'll be out more.

that's always good news, doublelung. hopefully he stays on that pattern for you!!

if I didn't know any better, id say the bucks around me are already starting to cruise. I know its impossible this early in October. but ive got pics of two shooter bucks that I have NEVER seen before. they are checking a mock scrape I set up. I usually get new bucks on cam during the peak of the rut and the end of the rut, when bucks roam farther outside their turf looking for those last does in cycle. I dunno whats going on, but im pumped about it. gotta new 10 pointer with nice brows and the other deer has a body the size of cow, I swear! wanna help on names for these newbies??

Awesome! Congrats! Does are the key to winning this contest. Plus it is important for herd management and they taste good.

Mid day hunt for me. Been getting some 1100-1400 photos. Gonna give it a try today and tomorrow. Had a buck go behind me at 40yds last weekend but couldn't make it out very good in all the foliage. No shot.

Passed on a doe sat night. About a half hour before she was under me there was a buck pushin her around a bit. I got a quik glimpse of him and was big bodied couldn't get a look at his rack. So here she comes and I hear a deer following her let her walk by the deer following was her fawn.

Slow weekend hunt. Between my buddy and me, we saw 1 deer total. My buddy shot it, a 110" 8pt (wanna-be 10 point). the g-4s were very short.

Thanks, DL. It is his biggest to date and biggest shot on his property to date (since he has owned it).

ive been putting in a lot of hours in at work the last few weeks, which, with a wife and a two year old little girl at home, hasn't left a lotta time for huntin. I have been able to go a couple times, with no luck. ive passed on three does....maybe one doe twice. im very confident that ill be able to get a doe later in the season, so im concentrating my efforts on my hitlisters. this strategy has worked for me in the past, so hopefully it will again.

good luck to everybody headin out tonight or in the a.m.!!

I'm ready for the rain to stop so the combines can start rolling again. Waaaayyyy too much standing corn around my areas. I did take my step daughter out for youth shotgun season last weekend. We didn't see a thing, but enjoyed our time in the woods.
