Just got a g42ng last month. Can't tell you about durability or battery life yet but man the day pictures are awesome! Night pictures were like any other camera, nothing to brag about.

COVERT, hands down. Matter of fact, I just ordered three more MP8's today. I have a Black 60 on a plot that captures game in excess of 30 yards during the day and still lights them up nicely out to 15 yards at night. I also have a MP6...for the price, you can't beat it..I have been running it since June and don't have the slightest clue how many pictures it has taken; averaging 2,000-4,500 pics (2 photo burst) a week and the battery is still on 6..never had a problem with it. Moreover, they have the best customer service.

The deer pics are the cheapest model, the mpe5. The fox pics are from an mp6.

The kind that take grainy night time pics...like all Coverts.
I have two Covert Mp8 black flash, a Stealth Cam G42NG, two Bushnells and 14 2013 Moultrie M-880's.

The Coverts and the Stealth Cam all take grainy night pics but crystal clear day pics. The Moultrie M-880's take fair day pics and crystal clear night time pics. The Bushnells are even more well rounded than the Coverts or the Stealth Cam but seem to be pretty unreliable. All around my personal favorite as a well rounded camera is the M-880 (2013 model)

I'm not sure if I would ever buy another covert again. Not sure if I hit a streak of bad luck with them but buying a dozen cams last year and only having two of them working now is not something pleasant. I know they have great customer service have issues with a cam and they usually send you a brand new one...after sending back 4 last year I had enough playing that game. They do take great pictures and take good video when they work properly! This is my opinion love it or hate!

The pics I removed were the clearest Covert night pics I've seen and aren't too bad, unfortunately the rest are also grainy in comparison to the M-880's

Sorry, I just don't have a place in my heart for overlooking quality issues because I like a brand. By far the majority of the covert night pics posted on this forum are grainy as are all the night pics from both of my Coverts...plus they are bad to motion blur.

Your coverts are black flash. Comparing them to an m880 with a standard IR flash is apples to oranges. If you want clearer pictures at night then buy one with an IR or White flash. The "black flash" cams that are so big on the market now are meant to be invisible to the eye, not take perfect night pics.

I run 26 Coverts and get thousands of pictures like the ones I posted every week. There is no "sacrafice of quality".

Fwiw...I have Cuddebacks and Moultries too. And ive owned Stealths.

I tested it at my house before going to the field with it and no I get the same deer coming by, it seems they are more curious than anything:

    True.
I'll try an IR Covert before I mark Coverts off my list for good, thanks.

    Wow those look good!!!

On a different note, I had a 2013 covert red40 and it took 12mp day pics is what it said. It only worked about 15% of the time and just shut iff for no reason. The night time pictures were outstandingly terrible, you could not see a thing even if it was 5 feet away. All the pictures it did take were blurry and it got fogged up a lot. Probably the worst night pics I've ever seen. As for the day pictures at 12pm my Moultrie's 8mp ones were wayyyyy better and more clear, the coverts looked like maybe 1mp pics at best, they were always really light or really dark too. Over all I would rate that camera a 0.5 out of 10. Made me hate coverts and never want to use one again.

I'm super happy with my Browning Recon Forces. I picked them up for $85 and they work great. The day pics are good, night pics as well. Only thing is the range isn't huge, over a plot you can tell the further deer never set it off. However that range is printed right on the box so no reason to be upset

Sort of? When they explained what the deal was with my cams they said we are replacing this one for free. The other one was a year older and they said well we will give you this camera at this discounted price.

Oh and Siman, even if my mp8 black is taking worse pictures than an ir, I'm still comparing it to a m-80 xt's black, so that's an apple to apple comparison.
