Really Tony, I figured you of all people would have fun with that one. You are letting him off way to easy.

But I agree it was a perfect shot if the deer didn't turn. But I just can't pass up that good of an opportunity to give him some crap.

Good first morning, plenty of deer activity. Had a lone mature doe step out in the beans around 80 yards right at 7:00. 7:15 she was within 50 an I'm thinking wow this might just work! 7:21 the farmer thought it was a great morning to start cuttin beans on the south side of the field lol "damn". That stuff happens though, least I didnt get busted, she will be back.

    Welp,
Yesterday was the first opening day in the past 6 years I have not been able to get out into the woods! Way too much school work. I wonder if they will give us points if I passed my cell and molecular biology test today?
Anyways I tried my absolute hardest to relay the significance of opening weekend to my professors that teach my friday classes and they didn't seem to see it the same way. So I have to stay and take two quizes tomorrow am. But tomorrow pm I will finally be in stand. Saturday morning should be an awesome morning... and I am skipping tailgating and seeing one of the final games as an undergrad here at Oklahoma State so it better be.

Best of luck to the rest of yall and I hope all is well,

    Matt

Great weather this weekend, but don't see it happening for me. Next weekend is Youth gun season and taking my 10yr old son for his first deer hunt - looking forward to that. Following weekend is youth waterfowl (which I don't do) but my brother law wants take my son so may do that as I know he'll enjoy it. Football/coaching will finally be over by then and should open up some free time...no biggie though - want to take each kid by themselves on a bowhunt in Oct...then look to get out alone once it's prime time.

Good Luck everyone - anxious to see some more scores and stories!

Great morning sit. Almost felt like pre rut!! The young guns were out chasing the girls around. Had 3 bucks within 10 mins of each other following a lone mature doe. No blood shed yet, headed to a different farm for this afternoon.

Do any of yall have experience hunting super mature deer such as the last one? l really want to do it right and get him. Going to take a lot of hard work, patience, and knowledge... the last of which I am lacking in.

    MB,
    just one opinion here...
#1 Wind direction is the most important factor to get one of these guys close - their nose rarely lets them down.
#2 Strike when the iron is hot - meaning in my experience mature bucks keeps same habit and schedule for multiple days in a row usually. I have found them to stick around the same area and many times have smaller area then younger bucks. If your camera is showing him, or you or others have actual sightings of him in area you can hunt...get the wind right and hunt him ASAP.

    Good Luck!

Matt gave ya some good advice there. I FINALLY have a shooter back on camera in the food plot. BUT so far only showing at night, but EVERY night. Hopefully only a matter of time.. 14 or 15pt (can't tell for sure) 4.5 I'm guessing maybe 170 gross
