So I've gotta brag on my youngest boy today. He's 10 years old. He goes on every hunting/fishing trip that he's allowed to go on with me. He loves every minute of it. He's been sitting in the ground blind with us for 2 seasons now, and he's been working his but off to get to his dad's minimum draw weight this season. 40 lbs. If you can pul 40 lbs, and can hit your target consistently, I'll let you take a deer. Through the off-season, he would just randomly come downstairs and ask me to take him outside to shoot. What I didn't know (his older brother finally told me a couple months ago). He would go up into the bedroom and do about 20 push ups, then want to shoot his bow, thinking he would automatically have new muscles. Which is absolutely hilarious when you think about it. (and also the way things should work). Well today is the day. I took him up to the club. He's pulling 41 lbs. And he's nailing his targets at 20 yds. He actually had to call his mom from the club to tell her. Hasn't had a smile off his face all day. (Same for his dad). Then I gave him the bad news...You also have to be able to do it from a sitting position. (he'll be in a ground blind with me) He did it, no problem! We're going out next weekend to my honey hole, hopefully we'll have some success. I'm a pretty proud dad right now. That's my oldest son on the left and my little guy on the right. And yes ChuckC, that's your old Mathews Creed on the left. When that thing hits the target you know it. Holy cats I'd hate to be the deer that gets hit with the arrow from that thing. I'm getting to the age where I have more fun watching my sons do something then doing it myself. I don't know if that means I'm getting old or just grateful.
It's always fun when the kid hit milestones. I was mighty happy when my older boy could go out with me. It's a lot of fun.
Thats awesome! One day i hope to pass on my knowledge as well. Remeber these times because they will be old before you know it.
that's awesome.... my oldest daughter just turned 5 in september and was asking for a bow when she was 3 and I bought her one a Diamond atomic, it always makes me smile when she want's to go out and shoot she asks all the time the hard part is I have 4 daughters and I'm a stay home dad so it is hard to get her and just her out to shoot her next oldest sister who is 3 also shoots but the twins are 2 and don't understand they need to stay back I make it work but she definitely get to shoot more in the winter when the targets come inside. tis is Breanna this is her younger sister Fiona
Congrats! I know my day is coming soon with my son's first time hunting. I'm hoping that he will be able to go with me this year some. He'll be 2.5 yrs so I think he'll do good!
thats what it's all about right there. my daughter will be 5 in a couple months. i can't wait until i can take her out and eventually have her get her first deer.
Thats awesome brother i cant wait to take my little one. Its truly a blessing being a dad and your kids loving what you love!
