Sounds like everyone is having a rough start, my luck probably won't be much different. I'm going out this evening for the first time this season. I'm hoping this cooler weather will play in my favor. Good luck guys!

Finally! Got off work at 6pm, and had her on the ground at 645. This new Elite is so legit! I released, she had no idea what hit her. She just kinda walked around and then dropped 10 yds away. Unbelievable, the most ethical kill with a bow I've ever seen! Going again this morning to try and get my 2nd city doe.

Awesome! It was a perfect morning this morning. It was chilly with no wind, I couldn't have asked for a better morning. The only problem was that there was not a single deer to be seen. Maybe it was because I brought my girlfriend with me? She's usually bad luck...

I hunt within city limits of Grove Oklahoma. Which is kind of like public land meaning anyone can walk into my set up at anytime LOL. You have to take 2 does before you can take a buck here, but doesn't matter b/c I haven't seen any bucks LOL.

    Hey fellow Okies!

Anyone have any predictions on when the rut is going to start for northern Oklahoma? It seems like it is getting colder sooner than I remember from year's past so I am hoping it is before rifle...

    Go Pokes

Hey MBrauer! I never have any clue as to when the rut is gonna hit.
MartinSaber, you have to have signed permission, an aerial photo of where your stands are, cant hunt within 150 feet of an structure (300 with a crossbow), and you have to pass an accuracy test at the police firing range, as well as pass a background check.
I just dropped off my 2nd doe at the processor, so now I Can hunt a buck!

Ha! I hear that all the time, but the place I hunt I'm the only one allowed to hunt on the land, and Oct 4th was the last day to get an Urban Deer Permit for the 2014 season.

fort cobb is a wma of Oklahoma and is completely fenced off with signs posted. ,if were talking about ft cobb.. not quite sure if that's what were talking about,if we are you are allowed to hunt any where inside the boundaries.. they only have bow and shotgun first 9 days of gun.....no muzzleloader.....no restrictions on how close you can hunt to structures, ....or are you referring to where you hunt?

I hunt a little north of you in Noble Co. We've seen some tree rubbing, a little pawing and tickling antlers so hopefully not too long til the rut.

Nice to see another Poke fan!

    Hey fellow Okies,
My buddy and I finally launched an instagram page that we have been working on for some time to be able to document all of our hunts and share our experiences with the world. If you have an instagram account it would be amazing if you guy would go over to our page (Back Porch Outfitters) and give us a follow. Greatly appreciated!

Thanks for helping out a fellow Oklahoman,
    Matt

Where did you hit her at? Should have gave her more time than that if you saw her lay. If I see them fall over or "crash" I go get them pretty soon. If they just lay down I'm giving them 3 or 4 hours at least.
