I'll be out in the morning with the wife sitting in her new ground blind set.. Hopefully she will be abled to keep her stuff together and finally make a good shot. I hope to have some hero pics of her to share tomorrow evening..

I got a plan for myself also for tomorrow evening --- maybe I can rack up some points....

I love that i shot my buck but man my hunting season is all messed up now lol. I will go for a doe as soon as it cools off some more. Then maybe trophy hunt.

John- Shooting a buck early is a double edge sword especially if you are only allowed one buck a year!

Been there... One year I shot a 9 point on opening day.. I was lost the rest of the early season and hunting just didn't have the same appeal.. That is until I booked a hunt in Missouri for the first week in November and then all was right with the world again

Of course the wife didn't like me spending a couple of grand for that hunt.. I told her it was only money so it was no big deal!

Amazing how she didn't see my side of it.. Of course that was back before she caught the hunting bug herself..

Hahaha I'm learning ALL about the woman not seeing our side of things. Has it accord to them if they just JUMP on over to our side then we could sail as smooth as a crips breezy day??

I don't regret shooting it lol, last year I passed on a deer opening day because it was small and didn't get a shot the rest of the year. I hunted only with a bow the entire season too...

Well I think I am ready for tomorrow. Finished getting all the camera gear charged and ready today. Also went out and checked broadhead flight. Had to make one little adjustment and I was spot on.

Here is my first shot from 30 and 40 yards after getting my 20 spot on.

Speaking of your buck, and for the rest of the team to know, you need to have all the individual measurements broken down between left and right side g2-3-4 etc... And main beam and inside spread.

Well that is going to take awhile since I don't have it at the moment. Taxidermist has the rack and is putting it on a block of wood for me.

You could probably get him to score it and give it to you, be a good way to double check and see if you got it right.

And you shouldn't. The pressure is off and now you can just cruise for the rest of the season. I think between Carolina and Virginia I can take like 6 bucks but that is also why we don't have the quality of bucks. Only a few make it past 3. But either way all that matters is you are having fun doing what you enjoy to do...

First hunt of the year is in the books..

We saw one small 8 pt buck at day break & had a doe come in at 11 AM while sitting the wife's blind in the morning.
Had to wake her up from a cat nap to see the doe. In the process of her trying to maneuver for a shot she clinks her bow on her chair.. GAME over! LOL

Sat a bean field stand in the evening. Not my original plan, but due to the wind it was the best bet for both of us to hunt together from. Had a small forky and 2 does feeding in the field but never got closer than 50 yards..

Hot and buggy. Thank god for the thermacell!

Here is the view from our stand... All in all great first day!

Haha she had everything going against her! She's probably going to drop a stud buck for her first deer! Good luck this season

It was a great day John. I always hunt with the wife on the first day of season..

We finished off the day with a quick pizza dinner and a hot tub soak to ease the back aches we both had from sitting for all those hours. It is amazing how wore out you can get from just sitting in the stand all day.

2 Days left here in PA. It is suppose to be a high of 52 degrees and a low of 39 degrees. Last pull yielded almost all of our hitlist bucks.

From what I have seen they are calling for rain around 2-3 am and then there is a 30-40% chance of rain from about 11:00 am on. It will probably be only scattered showers.

Well been debating all day if I want to hunt in the morning. Had a lot of rain and storms roll through the last 2 days, and a cold front coming in behind all that. Think I'm gonna hunt, and if a doe walks by she may be in trouble.
