I hear rumors of big deer in KS but have yet to see any. I'm thinking the tales are highly exaggerated, one of those "grass is greener on the other side of the fence" type deals.

It could be that the deer are beginning to use camo too...I've heard other rumors as well.

I always say there are no deer in Kansas, but so far I think it's true this season. Four sits and all I have seen was a doe at 100 yards. The landowners have been running tractors and skid loaders like crazy though, so I'm going to have to change tactics.

I've been out a few times in October. Saw a bunch of does and 4 nice bucks one morning and a nice 8 the last morning I sat. Nothing presented a shot. The last buck snuck in behind me and by the time I saw him and got ready to shoot he was 35-40 yds with decent brush between us, so I let him go.
I'm thinking that they are there, but the warm temps throughout most of October have allowed them to stay nocturnal. With the upcoming cooler temps, time change, and the fall crops getting harvested; I think that things should be heating up.

Shot low on the 7th, maybe changing bows the day before the hunt with limited practice was a bad idea. As frustrating as it is I am just glad that it was a clean miss. Would have been my first deer over 150.

This wasn't shot by me but a friend of mine. Rut is really stating to roll and he was taken Monday before the front came in. But I personally have been seeing a lot of activity and my decoy has really been bringing them in closer.

Looking forward to seeing deer, its been a tough season so far. I've been in the woods 20+ times since oct 1st and only seen 3 does. Never hunted in snow and looks like i might get my chance. Very excited!!
