Hey all! I'm a complete newbie with bow hunting, having just moved to the wilderness about a year ago. I'm looking to get my gear together and start practicing this year in the hopes of being able to go out during next year's seasons. Looking forward to meeting y'all and learning more!
Welcome.. good luck with the hunting career! Lots of good people, advice, and experience shared on this site..
Thanks guys! Anyone have any suggestions about groups or folks to hook up with in the SoCal area to learn some stuff first-hand? -S
Welcome from Nor Cal! I haven't ever hunted down there so don't know much about groups or anything. A local bow shop should have some information on ranges and where to meet some more people in your area. Good luck!
Thanks Hillbilly Jedi! That was my plan, I gotta figure out where/when to go find one but hopefully this weekend! I'll let y'all know what I find... so excited to get my first bow of my own and start practicing! :-)
You're welcome. Even though I'm from CA I have to ask... transplanting yourself to the wilderness in So Cal sounds like an oxy moron. I know there is wilderness in So Cal but why choose there? If I ever leave CA it's going to be to Iowa, Nebraska, Illinois, or Georgia. Maybe Wyoming or Colorado but not So Cal. You must still have some family close.
Yes. My parents are older and I help care for them. Also, I have work here (in this wilderness) so that helps. It is not nearly as remote as I would prefer - I would like to be in Colorado or some place with higher mountains and less people like Alaska - but for now this at least got me out of the soul-suck that was suburbia for me. It's a start ;-)
There is some pretty remote land in So.Cal. I would suggest find an archery club and join. Don't be afraid to ask advice and who knows... you may find someone who'll let you tag along on some adventures.
