New to filming and I was curious where to position the camera as a solo filmer and where to position the camera man as well as the camera when filming as a team? Pics would be great. Please inquire season starts this weekend.
Solo filming I will put the camera arm coming out just to my right at about waste height when standing. Double stand set up The filmer stand will be coming out to the right at a 90 and up about a foot or two from the hunter stand seat
^This...Also if you check out the facebook page link in my signature, there are two shares on the timeline from Campbells one is a video about how to set up and the other is a pic showing how they are set up...maybe that can give you a little better understanding. Good luck this year!!!
That's pretty much right on. Camera to the right side so you can see the screen and operate the camera with your off hand while solo. Make sure you can operate the camera from both a seated and standing position, usually just above your hips in the seated position, high enough that the are can pass over your legs while you are seated. You should be able to reach that position while standing also.
I can only speak for the solo set up. Its all ill ever do, I have no interest in having someone film for me. I like the challenge of solo and doing my own thing hunting. I like to hang mine about waist high on the right side, I position in such that if my stand seat is flipped up that Ill have room to clear it if I have to swing camera between me and tree to get subject if it comes in to my left rear!
bloodcrick is that a wireless mic receiver on the side of a shotgun mic and if so are you using 2 audio inputs?
Like others have said, usually to my right and I keep it just far enough away so I don't touch it when moving around.
