Which pubic land are you hoping to hit? I am going to hunt lake thunderbird for sure and possibly pushmataha
Guessing you live in the central part of the state? Those two are quite a ways apart. Push is nice. Lots of big country in the Southeast part of the state. I hunt a couple close to my house. Goodluck. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I537 using Tapatalk
I hunted there last year and got one doe. There are a lot of does out there but there are some good bucks stomping around too. It does get hunted hard on the weekends but once it gets cold the pressure backs off. If you can hunt it in the morning during the week you would have it mostly to your self. If you want to talk about about some spots send me a pm.
lexington wma is south of norman. It gets hunted a lot and they allow gun there in november. I think most of the stories about people shooting at whatever just moved in the bushes started there!
jleger, cobb is a good place and lots of deer. They are just spooky as hell cus they're pressured so much. still hunting is probably your best bet there.
Lexington only has bow and muzzleloader. they are also closed the first 9 days of gun season.I've heard its like a war zone in there with people shooting at anything that moves . don't really feel comfortable in that scenario. wish there was a lot more ethical hunters there during gun, but I guess that's the way it goes...lol
Jacob, if your still going to hunt thunderbird this year, my son keeps seeing good numbers of deer close to the ranger station. if youd like me to give you a good spot to get access to just let me know......derik
Just Saying Hey from Northeast Ok im thinking about trying Camp Gruber WMA out not sure tho anybody ever hunt it.
Ive killed several deer at Gruber. The biggest is a 130 10 point. Lots of land there. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I537 using Tapatalk
Well i think it opened today if im not mistaken for people to go in an setup so im debating I really dont have any Atvs to cover it. What u think about spot an stalk hunting there? Would it be a good place to do it? Wud u nd a sidearm going in there? Ive never hunted it so its kinda like going in blind folded cuz I wouldn't know the first place to go I would have to do some major tracking an looking for signs. There doing alot up at Gruber Construction wize on the base side an ive seen plenty wildlife just going in an working there even saw an elk for the first time a couple weeks ago so its definitely holding some big game but as far as whitetail there's gotta be tons of deer in there.
I didn't even know one could ride ATV's in there? I don't think you'd need a firearm. I've never seen anything there to make me want a pistol on me. The day I killed that 10 point I had Elk all over me. I'm guessing they come from Cherokee WMA. Your best bet right now is go look and see what Oak trees made. If you can find any acorns you will find deer. That place is absolutely loaded with deer. See a ton of doe that's for sure. Good luck!
I figured youd find a way to work your schedule into the deers bedrooms.......lol.....wish I was goin with ya or at least somewhere! just gonna take some time to get it out of my system....lol
you didn't miss much bud...Had a deer around 0800 just inside the woods start blowing...Don't know what her problem was...That was my hunt.... Im working the next 7 nights so it will be a while before I get to hunt again....That's gonna suck!!! Gonna scout ft cobb next week I hope
