Don't wanna sound like putz, but i find every fish I catch special. No, really. Even little bluegills that take frogs 'n' mice big as themselves are a hoot. I find it adds a nuance to think that if I wanted to, I could get myself a meal out that fish...

The Bassmaster classic was this weekend on Cayuga Lake which is 20 minutes from me. I've fished the lake a ton! These dudes know how to fish!!!!! I went down to check it out a couple days. Pretty cool event they put on. Bunch of bands, food, beer, booths. Pretty good turn out. First one I've ever been to, it was cool to see them launch and the weigh ins. Hank Hackney (winner) boated 5 fish of 24 lbs by 11:00am on the final day! That's pretty incredible averaging about 5 lbs per fish.

It is! My biggest on this rod was a 9 1/2#r on a Mike's Mad Mouse, but most bass i catch in the area ponds and creeks are in the 2-4 lb range. Crazy fun. This rod is a custom build MHX 6 wt. MHX rates it a 6 wt but the rod will not load up with 6 wt line until 25 feet of line (+leader/tippet) are in the air, so I put 7wt line on it and it casts even heavy flys like a dream.

Nice! I have an Orvis 6 weight that I loaded with Scientific Angler bass line so it's got more backbone to throw those heavier streamers and poppers.

I have an Orvis 3 wt I absolutely love. Not to fast, enough backbone to bring in even big bass (biggest about 6 lb) and can cast relatively big poppers out to 45 ft before losing its gumption. Just curious, what flies do you use on bass?

I'm not a fly guy but I have done it. We have lots of threadfin shad in the area. I use a John rohmer I think makes it diamond hair streamer when I fly fish. Great baitfish imitation and the world record fly bass was caught on it.

Still been catching a few in the 4 pound class, but no HAWGS lately. It's been pretty dang hot and miserable here in Kansas for the last four weeks. My wife caught one of her best this summer a few days ago as well!

Biggest of 5 we caught tonight, old man is holding this one although I caught it. He had what was most likely a 10# bass to the boat before it broke the line.

Yesterday's banger. Fishing was a little slow. The just "bluestoned" (copper sulphate) the lake :-/. That always shuts is off for a little while or at least slows it down.
