Okay, while I'm busy enough figured I'd start the WINNING state's thread....that's right fellas I smell a MILAN HIGH moment 1954 style!!!! For those that don't know me my name is Ty, located in the Northern fringe of the state (Elkhart County primary county hunted)...and while some are playing shy I have a couple bucks confirmed that lived which should push the 160 range....but definitely some 130s. I am the man behind Small Acre Hunting which is a consulting/educational/experience sharing site dedicated to hunting small acres (or as I call them common man places). If anyone would ever want to join the Insider's Club (more videos/write ups/giveaways than just the open site) just let me know and I give a 50% bh.com discount. Enough about me, let's check in fellas! Team Indiana: Tynimiller Goosepond Monster Bone Head Hunter sycamoretwitch Pastorjim08 Spoonie08 **eligible for 1 zero dropped from average
Checking In. Name is James but many call me Twitch. As you might imagine I am a Sycamore Alum - born and raised in Terre Haute and still call it home. I hunt 60 acres in Southern Vigo Co. that has yet to score me a buck. However, annually I have known it to have 150 plus deer on camera. I got my 2 food plots in the ground this past weekend, with some rain this week they should be in great shape come mid October. I also hunt another 60 acre property in Clay Co. that will be new to me this year and I am excited about the trail camera pictures I have been getting. It is a pretty dynamic property that has the ability to produce a monster buck - I've got to hunt it right and I think I will be in great shape. Still looking to put my first buck down with a bow, but also not taking a buck south of 135ish or so - trying to be realistic but at the same time hunt mature whitetail deer. Steep learning curve for someone who just got into the sport 5 years ago. Looking forward of repping the state of Indiana with you all.
BHH Checking in.. Hi Guys-- Many of you know my background or have seen my trail cam pics. I won't get into where or how much ground I hunt, but I will say I expect big things in my peep sight this year. On a personal level my name is Tony and I live in Columbus. Been pursuing whitetail for over 38 years with a bow.. I have several 130's under my belt and a 160 with the ole stick and string. Go Indiana! I didn't use Hoosier because while we all are from Indiana some of us maybe Boiler, Bulldogs, Sycamores, Irish.. ect...
Just for the record I am NOT A INDIANA HOOSIER FAN....I just use the term Hoosier as reference to our state as many do. Just don't want anyone thinking I like IU...even though I have an IU degree (from South Bend Campus) still not a fan :D I feel better clearing that air!
Yes, this raises a great point and is why I said "repping Indiana" and not anything else. When I utter the word I prefer Loosier of Gloomington. But Goosepond is a pretty big Loosier fan so just know Goose none of this is anything personal... You need not bash the Sycamores, I know I know - not worth your time! We are on the same team here, now!
Good thing you didn't have winners in your name...you would have had to edit that too Good luck everyone.
Screw you guys...I'm out. Goosepond here and I live in Monroe County. I have a ~90 acre spot I hunt in Owen County, but apparently I'm not smart enough to hang my stands in the right spot, because I didn't see any deer there last year...other than those I spooked in the hay field on my way to the stand opening morning. My main hunting spot will probably be the three acres at my grandma's house where I shot my first buck last year. I may not do as much deer hunting this year as I have in the past due to wanting to try my hand at duck hunting. I do intend on sitting in the stand as much as I can before waterfowl season starts, so hopefully I'll get a shot at a buck during that time. I don't know what I have on my trail cameras as I haven't checked them in a couple of months and I haven't been putting out any corn for inventory, because it is a hassle to clean up before the season starts. I've been meaning to plant a food plot at my grandma's, but I've been pretty lazy and have yet to get the seed in the ground.
GPM--- I was just kidding... Brother you are welcome to chase feathers anytime except the rut. Then you better be in the woods Even if I got to drag ur Looser butt with me ... :-) you gotta rep the state.... Let's have fun and get to know each other... that's what this is all about! You know I,m just playing.... Right
Even though I live in the not so great state of Illinois I do 90% of my hunting in Indiana so I will be rooting for you guys. Good luck!
Goose I feel that Owen county place is just a matter of time, new properties can take a while to learn. Next time I am down at my brothers we should hit the spot together and scout it out!
Had 1,600 photots at this location. 1,000 of them of bucks and about 7 different bucks. I'd say 4 shooters of the 7.
Thank you, he is actually a 10 pointer. Is a dandy would love to get a chance at him. Didn't even notice the white patches - good catch, very cool!
I see that now.. The angle of those pics hide his tines pretty good. Here is a couple pics from yesterday's pull.. Wish October 1st would hurry up and get here!
