Got my fall plots broke up and ready to plant. I'll be planting a mixture of brassicas and winter peas for the spots that get a lot of sun. For the trail that doesn't ill plant clover and oats. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
We planted two plots today. Soy beans and brassica blend. My partner just got a new tiller for behind tractor. That thing is amazing! Now if we could just get a nice light rain for a few hours... Sent from my SCH-I535
After I posted here, I went and attached the little 12' disk on one of the tractors and went and worked the five acres of food plots here at home, they were too overgrown to just spray and no-till in so I figured the heck with it. Giant ragweed about head high but it worked up surprisingly well. Planting tomorrow in forage beans, buckwheat, prosso millet, milo and sunflowers.
Sounds like one heck of a combo for deer and birds .... "Thinking to myself Dove season is just around the corner!"
Yep, pretty darn toot'n late too but we'll see what she does. The beans have time to grow forage and that's all they are for anyway the millet and the buckwheat are good yet. I'll go in and broadcast crimson clover and brassica and wheat in it in late august anyway. One plot I was working in front of the camera so I'll have a few progression pics from a weedy patch to worked food plot on that camera. Same camera those latest bucks were on.
Glad to see everyone working on their plots too. I'm watching the weather the next couple weeks for a good rain and then I'll plant and fertilize right before it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I got mine started yesterday. Well, two plots for my wife. They are both about 1/4 acre plots and will be planting a mixture of chicory and clover.
I got out last weekend, applied a heavy dose of glyphosate (round up), let it all turn brown and then lit her up!!!! I'll let it grow until the last week in July, then round up again, another burn, and then I'll work the soil. I'm most definitely going with a 50/50 blend of monster raxx last heart beat and clover food plot mixes.
Mowed the rye and clover the other day. Will lightly till the thatch in for clover if the existing stand doesn't bounce back. Planning to mow the buckwheat next week and get my LC mix in. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S4.
Looking GREAT!! I sure wish I were doing something to the property today instead of working....well sorta working LOL!
I turned the soil this weekend on a new plot. Around the last week of august I will come back in and till it up and plant.
I plant food plots from April until Early september. I sometimes put down 3 different crops per plot per year as part of my research.
I wish I was !!!! I've already gotten started but my cv joint boots tore on my sportsman so I just had it apart and finshed putting it back together. I may go on sunday since I gotta work overtime all day tomorrow anlfter putting in overtime all day today.... grrrrr Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
