Yes that is correct. I started with my company as an AutoCAD drafter. Two years ago I began pursuing a bachelors in electrical engineering. I am now less than two years from graduation and earlier this year they promoted me to designer. In two years I'll be promoted to an engineer. To answer your question though to be a substation designer you typically have to have an associates degree (or the equivalent amount of school) in an applied science.
Engineering project leader... i.e... 3 meetings that all overlap by 6:30 am. I think pretty soon I'll raise the ranks to engineering supervisor, so that means not only 3 meetings by 6:30, but staying til 6:30 pm! American dream!
