That would be great in theory but when you live in BFE going to shoot at a range isn't exactly convenient. Our local range is my back yard
Mine owns the Diamond Edge, had zero problems with it in the 3 years we've owned it. Haven't made many changes to it though either. All she wants to do is target shoot for fun (thank god for my sanity). We were in the same boat, didn't want to drop a ton of coin for something she didn't know if she'd even like. So far so good.....
I personally wouldn't get a bear. Not sure how the wife is build but it was way too heavy for me. Do you know what her draw length is? The other bow I can recommend is the mission Flare. Comes in a few different colors and has a nice weight.
DL is gonna be somewhere around 25.5-26, thinkin she needs to start off around 30lb DW. Checking out some of the Missions now......
Just give me a call I will talk to Pete and see what he has if you want Mathews Chill X NAP Carbon apache HHA optimizer Pine ridge stab CX Maxima Hunters
A Carbon Rose would fit perfectly. Draw length is 22.5-27 and the lightest cams go from 30-40 pounds. Might be an idea too but it costs $100 more (Bow only) than the Flare. After going through the process I wish I would have skipped the step buying the Infinite edge. It's true when they say "buy cheap and you buy twice"
Ya I'm actually OK with buying twice provided it is a bow with enough adjustability for my kids to transition with it as well. Also I really want something that will allow a slightly broader range in poundage, at least up to 45lbs. That is the required min in KS (least used to be) So should she decide to try hunting she will need to work up to that minimum.
Think he has anything used? I'd prefer that route if possible. Been checking out Ebay and AT classifieds.
I saw that she is just starting out. The Hoyt Ruckus goes from 20-50#. It would be a good kid bow once she gets the hang of it, to pass down. I have seen a few used go for $200-300. I want to say mine wasn't that expensive new, either.
I was the same way when I got my wife shooting. She started out with the bear apprentice. Now she is shooting the bear finesse.
I bought the edge for my wife and she loves it, had it for three years now hasn't failed her yet. Great bow for the money!
My ex was looking into shooting, she shot diamond, mission, Mathews, everything except the carbon rose. She liked the Mission Flare the most, even more so than the Mathews Jewel. The edge would be a decent place to start and the kids can pick that up too if the wife decides to upgrade. Good luck with whatever you go with.
My wife loves her Chaos......She doesn't shoot a lot and hasn't hunted with it yet but she is more than capable of getting the job done......Pretty sweet little bow....
I bought one for my wife a few months ago, she loves it. She has a 25.5" draw and she struggles with the 32# draw weight but each time we shoot she shoots a few more arrows before getting tired.
In that case I personally would go with the Infinite edge. There are girls that hunt with it! If you want to buy it just to see if she likes it, where she is pounds wise and give it to the kids as they grow up it would be perfect.
