went down to my local outdoor store today and asked for a price on a new string and cable install for my hoyt avenger. they told me $65 out the door, this includes set up. I was put off by the price because its nearly half of everyone else. They assured me that it was a quality pre stretched string but wasnt sure on the brand because there made out of house. It seems hard to pass up......

    Thoughts?

Trust your Spidey Sense, if it sounds too good to be true it probably is.

I just bought a sting from Hutch n Son owner of Bow Sting Depot. The String cable set up was <$70 and my pro shop installed it for $20. $90 out the door.

Its a locally owned store The Great Outdoors, I feel they can do a good job just not sure about the product. This is my first time replacing a string, after 7 years im way over do but my budget is tight. They said I would need to shoot about 70 arrows on the new string before they set it up, is that a normal thing to do with a pre stretched string?

I did the same thing. Except my pro shop also replaced my cam and charged $50 for labor.

That's super cheap. I don't know how they can keep the lights on at that price.

If it's a good quality custom string, you should have to shoot like 1-5 shots before you set it up.

I will have to say it sounds great and seems great. But I can't see how they can do it unless they are doing you a favor. I'd ask a lot more questions.
    1. Who builds the strings
    2. What string material
    3. What is the guarantee

You might find the first question will answer it all
