Ok so I'm not able to go to the shop today but at full draw I am noticing the string is not coming off the cams straight. The strings both come off the cams and to the left, its very noticeable. I sent an email to mission asking about this and are awaiting the return email. If this is the issue this could be why this has been the hardest bow for me to tune.
That most likely is an issue. I hate floating yokes. Glad hoyt finally got away from them. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk
But I will say cheap broadheads don't tend to tune all that well. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk
i used these same broadheads to tune my last bow and it was spot on with field points, but when i got this new bow in january i couldnt get them to match this bow. im guessing its the cam lean so im waiting to hear from mission and then going to the pro shop. hopefully i get an email from them today so i can take it to the shop tomorrow.
just got back from the shop, he said it looks like the lower right limb is flexed more than the left side causing my cam lean. he said mission is gonna want to take a look at it and that I should call them asap.
so i got a hold of mathews and they are going to send a new limb set to the shop so they can change it out. im so glad im so anal about my hunting equipment, this could have been found out right before hunting season and caused me to lose a couple weeks of hunting.
got the new limbs put on the bow today, no more cam lean. I had to move my nock a little bc they didn't put the string on exactly the same. will paper tune tomorrow to check nock height and then move on to further tuning.
False, you don't have to line blades up with fletching...I've shot them every way you can imagine and can stack them together...That has nothing to do with it... Have you checked for vane contact with your rest? Field tips can hide issues where a broadhead will magnify the same issue....Have you tried a different broadhead??? I've seen some brands that are a pain to get to fly right, and you might try a dozen different brands that shoot perfect for you...Have you made sure your arrow inserts are squared and the arrows spin true? That can have a big effect on broadheads. Walk back tuning, much like paper tuning, is just a step in properly tuning a bow...IMHO bare shaft tuning a bow is the best method but can be a chore with a lot of bows that don't have a static yoke where you can adjust cam lean and tweak them that way.
alright new question. when i paper tune im getting a low tear and according to the guide i raise my nocking point, problem is my arrow is already way slanted compared to the rest. the arrow is literally 3/4'' above level. is this something they messed up when the changed the limbs?
First thing I'd check is cam timing, make sure all the specs are in order "AtoA length, brace height & max poundage"... If your cam rotation is off it throws the nock travel all out of whack and will cause crazy paper tears. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Exactly right ... My elk hunting setup last year I was shooting Shuttle T-Locks and never bothered to even attempt to line them up and at 80yds I could stack softball size groups with that setup all day long. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
how do i check cam timing without going to the shop, i know the strings fall into the cam timing circles at rest.
Cam timing has to be checked at full draw, you have to make sure the stops on each cam are hitting at the exact same time...Also make sure the AtoA length, brace height are correct and the bow will make max poundage.
axle to axle and brace height are correct, I cant check the cam timing or max poundage here at home. im getting fed up with the shops here locally, its like they fix one thing but mess up another. any recommended shops in northern ky?
KY Shops Your in E-Town, KY correct...If your up for a drive "not to far", go to Campbellsville, KY and see Shawn @ Crazy Horse Archery & Tackle out on Hwy 55 like your going to Green River Lake just outside of town...He's a Mathews dealer & a good buddy of mine...I grew up in Green County, KY and he'd be the guy I'd see in that part of the state.
