Hey Guys, I've been meaning to post this for awhile now but having a 9 month old really ties a guy up. So I got this info from a friend and it works great!! With the cold winters up here in Minnesota, the deer have been having a hard time finding food so I made this deer feeder and who woulda thunk it....IT WORKS!!!! I did a step by step picture process of it so anyone could make this. Items Needed: -4" diameter 5' piece of PVC pipe. -A coupling for the top with threads. -A threaded cap to fit coupling. -A 90 degree elbow. -PVC Drain Screen (Green thing). -Sheet Metal Screw -PVC Glue Step One: Glue the 90 degree elbow and the coupling with the threads to the 5' piece of 4" diameter PVC pipe. Step Two: While the glue is drying, your going to take the green drain and cut it so the corn can fall out when the deer bump it with their nose. As you can see per the pictures, you are going to cut the number 3 slot and cut it as close to the bottom as possible. I labeled the top and bottom with a T and a B. You will see in the next step why we cut #3. Step Three: You will now want to insert the green screen into the elbow with a little bit of angle. I had the bottom of the green screen touch the bottom of the 90 degree elbow. Make sure you have the cut piece on the bottom!!!! Step Four: Take your feeder out and strap it to a tree!! This 5' pipe doesnt quite hold a 5 gallon pail of corn. Below is a picture of how much corn is left once the feeder is full.

Here we go again. Ive fed the deer constantly since December, and havnt found a single on dead. Cool feeder design...how long does the corn last for you?
Like I said I used to feed corn all winter too, but I've been reading a lot about it recently and quit this year. Just thought I would share some info.
I think the difference is that after the crops come in and the remainder on the ground is cleaned the deer's digestion changes to adapt to the foods they eat in winter. I don't know if it would make a difference if they were fed corn all year, seems like it would. What I have gotten from things I've read is that it is dangerous for the deer to go for a month or so on browse and then all of a sudden begin to eat from a corn pile every day. Supposedly it messes with their stomachs and they can't digest it. Sorry to the o.p. I didn't mean to get your thread off track. It is a cool feeder.
