well be heading out Sunday to do the first shed hunt of the year. ill get some more on site pics then.
We'll we found two sheds while out and 2 dead heads which sucks, both the dead ones were nice 2.5 year olds with great potential. I'll post pics when I get to my laptop later tonight.
I liked the photos and think it will be an awesome place to be... to bad about the lost bucks but that is nature. Overall, very cool!
we were not able to get out this weekend sadly, but we are starting to gear up for turkey season!!! we have tons of turkeys on this piece. I will be going at them with the bow this year for the first time!!
well we just about got all the trees burned form the tree line this weekend. now we just have to get a dozer out to level where the woods line was with the field. we also had an unexpected burst of excitement, at about 9:00pm we were tracking the equipment back to the barn when I saw some headlights in the distance, I thought oh there just on the county rd that goes through the property. But NO the were out in the middle of the farm where we have some standing beans driving in circles, needless to say my dad took off in the ranger and chased them to the end of the road where he took a picture of their license plate and then they finally stopped. they said they were just locals driving around. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!! long story short they got caught and got one warning and so now we are putting up a gate ,where they entered the field, this Saturday. cant wait for the spring gobblers!! STUPID TRESPASSERS!!!!!
Darn, That 8 looks like it had some great potential. I would maybe just get it checked as a precaution.. you never know if it was a illness or predator.
Looks great!! I cannot wait to see all of the progress on your projects. I have to ask though, the tree line you are removing....why?? What I see there is a secluded field behind it that would give any big buck the feeling of being unseen, not to mention additional treestand locations.
the main reason is to improve the field for farming $$$$. right now all the crops cash flow for the expenses of the farm. once we get to where it is more stable (finances) we will be able to be more so focused on the deer. And the treeline was causing water to stand in the field.
well we got the gate up this past saturday, also took all of our trail cams down to do a yearly check up. spring is here!!!!!
It was a bust this morning as far as turkeys go, got on a couple but never got to close the deal. we'll be out there till Wednesday hopefully we can get it don e before then.
