I prefer mid to late December hunting even over the early season. The woods clear out, people stop hunting, and the deer begin to move hard to the food.

If PA is like NY, your tune will soon change, unfortunately...

tuff here during the late season ... especially in the southern part of the state --- 4 day Doe only hunt in Dec with shotgun/rifle then the Holiday Hunt at X-Mass shotgun/rifle ... by this time them deer are kindda hard to find during the day ... tracks in the snow only show where they were....

Cant kill em if you're not out there...

I've had some of my best encounters late season. It all depends on your location.

yeah but then the family room gets all smoked up and the little Lady isn't that fond of the "Black powder" smell.... and the fact that the percussion make everyone look like they are in a silent movie without subtitles...

You have a better chance of sitting out there and killing the Easter Bunny or tooth fairy than a deer late season in NY.

I'll be out as much as I can. I basically have two weeks off starting Monday and our season starts the day after Christmas. I still have both of my tags and two of my target bucks are still on their feet. And our doe population needs thinned. I have a lot of work to do after Christmas.

I love the woods in late season... Ours ends Dec 31st, and no place better to ring the new year in than in a tree!

Well last weekend was somewhat of a success me and my buddies did a push and I put a doe down. So conclude the season I did damn good. I shot a 5 pointer during bow season. A doe during gun and a doe during late season. Atleast the freezer has meat! Now its time to get some of those pesty coyotes.
