I will be hunting late season for does starting in maybe 2 weeks or so. I think season closes for us around Jan 15th.
I'm shotgun hunting this weekend if I can get out. The 8 inches of blowing snow is making the 30 mile drive look daunting.
Had a lot of ice around me. Also shotgun season here until Sunday, but I think I am going out with my bow tomorrow morning to try and put a hungry deer on the ground.
Got some more good meat. One of the bigger does I have got. 12 gauge bolt marlin slug master. Moving camera Tuesday to the edge of standing corn facing standing beans. Will bowhunt to the east of it when the time is right.
For the first time since 1985, I didn't see a single deer during shotgun season. That includes driving to and from, 60 miles round trip. We made several drives the past 2 days. I kicked up one coyote and no deer. One of the places we drive, its not unusual to push 8 or more out. Nothing. I only heard 2 shots all weekend! Very few tracks anywhere we went. To say I'm frustrated would be a huge understatement. I'm waiting on the DNR excuses about the weather, once again, driving the harvest numbers down.
Got another doe here in Ohio with my muzzleloader (during shotgun season). Long story short. She was in heat in old fence row with two bucks with her. My brother and I snuck within 60 yards and somehow I missed the big one, my brother shot the smaller of the two bucks, and I reloaded and missed the big one again. Those bucks did not want to leave that doe. I have never seen anything like it. After the big buck finally ran away, I snuck up on where they were and shot the doe when she got up to finally run away. Crazy fun hunt that I got to share with my little brother, but still can't believe I clean missed that buck standing broadside at 60 yards. I guess good for the team because I still have 1 more tag that I will only be using to fill with a buck. I'll be trying to as much as I can the next few weeks.
Congrats French, a nice big ole doe is a trophy for sure! Tough luck BBM.. sounds like you're hunting in Northern Michigan. Nice hunt PackerFan... even better when you have family along and thanks for missing so you can fill the tag with your bow! Good luck Team, I'll be out sooner then later.
I'm all tagged out. How many members do we have left that need to fill tags? It would be cool to close the gap on 1st. How far out of 2nd are we? Good luck everyone
My season lasts until sometime in mid January. I filled both bow tags and probably won't buy another one.
I can hunt until January 31st and will be hitting the edge of winter wheat fields. Gun season ends this coming weekend. Most likely will take the .270 out and try to kill another sika deer. After that the bow comes back out. Hoping I can add at least another doe to the list.
I AM TAG LESS, MY SON IS TAGLESS, MY DAUGHTER HAS 2 TAGS. SEASON ENDS SAT THE 14TH (RIFLE) good luck to everyone with TAGS 245 BEHIND 1ST PLACE 75 BEHIND 2ND PLACE
I'm all tagged out. I'm going to buy another doe tag and see if I can get another doe in the freezer Sent from my HTC VLE_U using Tapatalk 2
I still have a buck tag to fill. Letting things calm down a bit from the gun seasons. Hope to get out a few more times. Cams have gone pretty dead, few does and fawns but not even getting the small bucks. I'm sure they have moved to find food.
I do have a muzzleloader tag for this weekend but I'm not sure how much I'm going out. I have to work Friday and we have a Christmas dinner Sunday. I'll hit it hard Saturday, hoping to see my first deer since I killed my buck Novermber 19th.
I am headed to Kansas on the 26th with a buck and doe tag. I will have my Mathews with me looking to add as many points as possible I have been waiting on this trip all year. I will be hunting with Pat and another good friend of mine that does our video work. I hope we have as good of luck hunting together as we did last year in Iowa.
