Killed in Maple Grove, suburb of Minneapolis. I just saw a nice 8pt on the side of 35W in the middle of the city. Romantic bucks during the rut while living near the city... Never a good combination.
I saw this. I have a relative that used to work with the cop that came to the scene and he got a text of that buck. I probably would be in tears if I had a buck like that around.
Never understood why it's "sad" when a deer gets killed by a car..........other then the wasted meat that is. Who cares?? It's dead, time to chase another one. Kind of selfish to only be satisfied with an ending that has you downing a buck.........everything else (other hunter or car or predator) and it's a "shame" or "sad"??? Weird. Cry over a dead deer???.......wow.
If a buck of this caliber was killed of all things by a car in your neck of the woods wouldn't you be sad or maybe just a tad upset? It's not like there's bucks of this size running all over in these parts. I fear this all the time. Where I hunt the deer cross a high traffic area often. We lost a hell of a nice buck 4 years ago to a car hit. Damn right I fear of it happening again. We don't get many nice bucks wondering our woods.
I guess I'm too emotional then, I'd certainly feel grief if I had a local deer like that nailed by a car. Though I'd be happy again if I found it first, lol. I'm odd, I'm obsessed with whitetailed deer and antlers, have been since I was a kid. I love deer, even after all these years and all the deer I've put down, I'm still in awe of them and it's part of my soul....always will be.
Honestly???.......no. The only thing that would bother me would be if it was poached or killed by trespassers. I follow all the rules so I expect the same from others. A car is just a random act. I just don't see a deer dying not by my hands as something that is sad or something to fear. Big enough deer are out there for me to have fun chasing.
Are people jealous of the car killing the deer before they could? Just because you consider a buck your "target buck" doesn't mean its yours and anything or anyone else ending its life is "unjust"....
I doubt the guy thought it was unjust that it was killed due to an accident. I can almost guarantee everyone on this site would be disappointed if it was a buck they had pictures of and seen for the last how many seasons. Anyone that wouldn't be disappointed is lying..
