Finally got my bear butchered up. Had some help too. I just bought a meat grinder, yesterday actually. Its a LEM I think the brand name is. .35 HP. I cut up 8 packages of steak and made 10 packages of bear burger. I didn't add nothing to the bear burger. Been years since I've grounded my own burger. I enjoyed it. You would think you would get more meat then that but this is normal for a bear. Unlike a whitetail they have less meat on their bones unless you get one that goes 250+. Then they start packing on the meat big time.

Cool! I did this last night with some friends. It was a nice buck I took last weekend. I got 28 wild game bags, just like yours, at 1.5 pounds/bag of burger. I also had 8 roasts and 24 steaks. I am thrilled and will be doing this again. I did add 6 pounds of beef suet to my 32 pound of meat for the burger.

We used all LEM products, except the grinder, it was from Cabelas.

Had plenty of power. I did notice it got a warm smell to it towards the end. I'm thinking I should've gotten the 1/2 HP Instead.

Awesome! Grinding meat is not a fun chore...at least for me its not. Sunday night I ground up 45# of deer.

Odd question about the grinder, how loud is it? I wear ear plugs when I use mine. But then again I don't like anything loud.

Just to help answer the noise question. I have the 1HP LEM and it is quiet enough to have a normal conversation while grinding.

I bought one of the LEM grinders from BPS one time. Sorry, but I don't remember which HP model it was. I do remember it smelling a slight burning smell when I was using it. It lasted one season before the plastic gears gave out.

I tried a table mount hand grinder next. Screw that thing. I do keep it around just in case of emergencies, though.

I then spent $40 on a grinder attachment for the KitchenAid heavy duty mixer we have in the kitchen. It's been going strong and it's going on it's fourth season now. I'd have to sit and remember how many deer I've done with it, but year before last I killed 10 deer, last year was four and I've processed two so far this year.

Oh, and your daughter is adorable, Steve. You've got to be a proud Dad. :tu:

Make as many memories as you can now because they grow up and get lives of their own that don't include Daddy so much anymore.
