Today was a struggle saw one deer all day. Back at it tomorrow
The rutting activity doesn't seem to have started yet by me. All the deer are really nocturnal around here. Hoping the time change will change this.

If either of those two bucks slip up during daylight hours over the next week I am hoping I will have a good shot and put my biggest deer on the ground

Shot a deer 3 hours ago. Pouring blood but he stayed on his feet. Bedded down in a hedgerow. Left him for the night. Pics in the morning

I thought it was a huge doe but apparently it was my first buck. I was too focused on the shot and never noticed the antlers

This was the set up or the hunt. Could not have gone more perfect. He nicked around the bush in the small lower field and worked his way up the hedgerow at the top of the small field. I, sitting in the hedgerow could have shot into either field. I thought that he would keep going and I would get a shot in the lower field but then he doubled back and I lost him for 2 minutes. He came around into the middle field and walked directly to the tanks 69. Then he hit the beets hard for a minute. I was at full draw the whole time. He was quartering away and I waited for him to get broadside. The second he did I released and he bounded off.

Green is my stand. Red is the bucks path pre shot. Yellow is his post shot blood trail. Gray is where he bedded down. And white was my uncles stand

Congrats maxpetros! First one is always special!! I've been seeing the same forker and a few does, but not much in the way of rut activity yet. Passed on a couple does, as I'll be needing them to bring some bucks by my stand soon.. but I promise I will be good for the 50 points before it's points-tally time!

On a side note, I had the pleasure of having couple beers around a camp fire last night with some BH.C buddies... Brett (virginia shadow), Josh (Gri22ly), Caleb (the original Siman brother), Aaron, Finny, Luke, Alex and others.. think we were up until about 2am  .. needless to say, it wasn't an early start for anyone today! Scott (buckeye) and a couple others are just a few minutes down the road and one of his guys connected with a monster 160" class buck yesterday morning... I'm talking nasty thick mass!! I'll be on it hard for the next 6-7 days... Hoping my 10 pointer shows up soon!! Good luck gents!

Got back out this morning and just as I was getting packed up to leave I had a small spike come out. To small to shoot but first deer I have seen from the stand since the opener. I also discovered that I lost my range finder yesterday 3 hours away at my lease.
