Death to the beaver! Can you get to that stand a different way without breaking ice? Sent from my SCH-R530U using Tapatalk
Not really. Tonight it's only dropping to 25, so it shouldn't be that bad. Then we hit mid 40s again by the end of the week.
Hey Fitz, what kind of thermos do you use? I've been using a plain old stainless steel mini thermos but it decided to jump out of the tree yesterday and has quite a huge dent now - not to mention it's just a shiny steel finish and hard to hold onto at times. Oh and that bagel sammich looks like a great idea!
I left the stand in hopes of returning on the morning. However, the ice chunks were already refreezing to each other. I'll have to find an alternate spot for the morning. Then I can go back after the warmup.
Here's the one I have. I've been happy with it for the last 5 or 6 years. Avery NeoBottle-426595 - Gander Mountain
OK, today is going to work much like yesterday. It actually didn't get as cold as they said it would last night. So, I'm going to pack up and attempt to get to the outlet with relative stealthiness. If I feel that I made too much noise, I'm gonna pull the stand, come back and set up elsewhere. Otherwise, I'll settle in for the night and pull the stand at dark. If the outlet is a no go, I'll most likely come back and head to the Moose Shed Clearcut (where I got my doe last year and drew back on Lucky). I haven't hunted there yet this year, and want to shift stand positions there to cover a wider area. After today, the winds shift again and I'll be back up on Whistler's Ridge, or possibly pushing further into the timber. The time is just about right. Soon, the all-dayers will start
Must be tracking S of us. Forecast for tomorrow has dropped from 80% rain to 20%. I was thinking I'd have to sit Halloween out, but it's looking good again
Well the ice was good to me. Light skim like I was expecting yesterday save for one crunchy section about 15 yards long. Figure I'd hang out here for the day.
Just before noon I thought I had something walking into the grass of the E side entrance to the dam. Nothing materialized. Must have been a mink or that fisher I saw yesterday.
