Dropped my Sons off at the house. They'd had enough for the day. I packed back up and headed out to the public land that's closer to my property. I set up a tree stand and a camera yesterday. I pulled the card. It's got 4 pics since yesterday, but I won't know what they are until I get home. Slapped in a new card. Now I'm sitting in a tree hoping the wind doesn't blow me out.

Any movement over there? Things are painfully slow here tonight.

I didn't see a thing on the public land, got home looked at the 4 pics from the trail camera, they're pictures of nothing. To twist the knife in a little deeper, I'm driving home on ther freeway, to the east behind movie theater is some woods and a field. I see at least a dozen deer just standing in the field. I swear they were laughing at me.

    Go ahead, laugh now.

I cannot believe that happened. That deer was bedded down 80 yards from me, I was watching a couple fawns when I saw him stand up. He stood still for a while and then decided to go the other way. I hit the rattle bag as he was leaving and it was enough. He made a U turn and came right back. The path he was taking led right behind a tree I had ranged at 40, and my excitement got the best of me. As a rule I do not shoot at deer past 30 but turning that buck around really had me worked up. Im not sure what exactly happened between the bow and buck but my arrow was in the dirt and clean. No blood, hair or gut. So Im happy to possibly get another chance at him but this was not the confidence booster I needed two weeks before my Ohio trip.

Rained here, so I sat in the blind overlooking the scrape. No deer, but a dang squirrel tried to get in the blind with me... scared the bejeepers outa' me. I thought he was gonna climb the walls and tear the place apart, but the blinds fine. I guess we scared all the deer away too.

Leave tomorrow for a week of hunting in MD.
