he looks like he'd field dress about #188...

 

200lbs on the nose! We hung him up and cut the legs off from knee down so it doesn't hit ceiling and it weighed like 195. The hunter quickly grabbed those legs and throw them in the open torso hahah and it came to 200 on the button.

This deer had a really deep chest. Some serious mass.

 

Hey fellas, sorry I have been MIA. Been hunting hard, but just not much to report on. Killed a doe a few weeks ago but forgot about the 2 pic rule. Not too worried, though, I am good for a few more slicks before the season is out. I start hunting friday in earnest for about two straight weeks. Will be bouncing back and forth between kansas and illinois, I would say I should have some good news to report sometime during that period! Great work to the folks who are putting deer down - I have struggled to see any mature racked bucks on the hoof so far this year.

 

Wow...well deer weren't moving much at all this morning. I saw one little yearling run across the field in front of me this morning....

Think I'm going to have to let that stand rest for a week and come back to it.

 

New moon is oct 3 - next weekend... If you believe that sorta stuff...

 

You know I get out there every year when it's a new moon and haven't shot a deer yet. I don't know if it's just not meant to be or what? Who knows? What I do know is this is the time to be in the woods. I've shot two solid bucks the last two years in late October. Time to hit it hard. Going out tonight. Good luck to all!

 

The last bug buck I took with a bow was on Halloween evening.

 

In the stand. Just saw 5 turkeys. Made a Mock scrape before climbing in. Maybe ill have a little luck this evening since the weather is perfect.

No luck tonight but I did spook some deer walking out. Pulled the card on the cam and got several pics of this Guy again. Most are about an hour before sun up.

Okay well I went out last night and once again saw nothing (other than when I was walking out of course). That makes back to back hunts with nothing. That EHD from last year wiped out our deer heard. The plan is to go to my buddies on Saturday and then to my place on Sunday. I don't give up easy and I know there's some good ones out there but MAN this is no fun. I just keep telling myself it only takes one time.

 

You gonna poke him if you see him?

 

I hope some of yuall are out in the woods this morning. I've got family events and honey-dos to take care of tomorrow. I might be able to sneak off tomorrow night to a local spot...

I just got back, I went in knowing there may not be much movement. Last night probably would have been a better night. Early early this morning a snow storm came rolling in. Woke up to about 1-2" of snow. Just left stand and there is now about 4-5". Wind is pretty brutal too. Tonight when it all settles down might be a golden opportunity.

 

In again this evening. Snow stopped. Wknd settled down and sun is half shining. But it's below freezing out here. Let's see if they move

 

Hey guys, it's been a great season so far but haven' been able to seal the deal. I've been close a few times, have only had 1 sit when I haven't seen a deer.

I haven't been hitting it real hard, yet. I haven't even hunted at my parent's house where our food plots are. I did just go check the cams and there is a stud of a buck on there.

After Friday I am on vacation. I'm hoping to get a few deer down then. I'll be cabin hopping and hunting at my parent's, going for the big boy.

Just wanted to let you know I haven't forgotten about you, just haven't been online, work has been nutzo and there's no internet connection where my hunting spot is (those are the good ones)

 

I suspect you'll get in the groove when vacation starts. Keep us posted when you come into town...
