Last weekend was slow (my son did shoot his first buck - 5 pt.) and didn't see much activity. Cold weather coming we are nearing the primetime.

I haven't seen any bucks yet, but my buddy is getting a bunch of bucks showing up on his cameras now that weren't there before. They're all at night but atleast they are moving in his area. I don't have any trail cams as I'm hunting all public land except for one spot that actually butts up to public land. I haven't been hunting real hard yet as I don't want to burn my spots out too early. I'm as scent free as possible and always hunt the wind but there still seems to be an affect on deer movement if i hunt a spot too much. I've tried this "smarter" approach before and I've seen better results from years past.

Seen a bruiser tonight just after sun set crossing the field. Doe's are starting to feel a little frisky as they were jumping and dashing, running around about 10 minutes after shooting light left me. It should start picking up with these cool nights coming on.

I had a lot of great pictures leading up to the season but since the opener I haven't seen squat. Really hoping it picks up soon.

Both these pretty much sum up my year so far. Buck pics on cams have went way down since last part of August or first week or two of Sept. Haven't seen anything bigger than a 4 or spike in the handful of times been in woods. It'll pick up though, hopefully ha.

Shot a nice 8 Fri nite. There was another buck close by and those 2 were rubbing, scraping, snorting, wheezing at each other. Rubs and scrapes galore in southern Ontario

Some small bucks on their feet early Friday morning. A 2.5 year old 8 pointer checking scrapes and I rattled in a 1.5 year fork. Nothing big since "early season" but it's starting to heat up!

I've been seeing bucks all season. If you're not, you may be hunting the wrong spots.

I'm on private land southwest of chicago and had 3 nice bucks and a doe on a trail cam the other week. Put it back out and pull yesterday and nothing but saw some good foot traffic that wasn't in the cam's view. Going out beginning of next week. Will keep you posted.

That's crazy. I thought about going after yotes for a week or so but hate the thought of calling for them this time of year. I hunt across the street from a county forest preserve and last thing I need is more of those little bastards crossing the street to my property.

Friend of mine who has alot of windshield time in the western burbs saw 3 different big bucks hanging around does today in fields. One big buck in the am also crossing the road during shooting time. Just a report. I will be out tomorrow night during the snow thats supposedly going to happen. I wont hunt mornings till this full moon is gone. Never had any good action on clear full moons in the mornings.
