Nice little 8 pt! Atleast you finally got a buck on cam. Hopefully you will get a shot at him during youth season!
Yep, he is the definition of the Michigan "basket rack". There was another buck with him, but he never steps into the frame. Only shows his nose and the tips of of his main beams.
My season opens tomorrow and I will be in the blind tomorrow morning, tomorrow night and Sunday morning. My goal is 50 points for the team but you never know what can walk by. The weather is supposed to be perfect with temps in the lower 40's in the morning.
Good luck! A week from tomorrow I will be in the stand. If everything goes as I hope I will shoot a doe at first light and then sit the rest of the morning waiting for a buck.
Hey just checking back in guys. My season started on the 6th, but I honestly have only been in the woods once and even then I never even had my bow with me. I was trying to get a a buddies son on his first bow kill. We seen 12, but nothing in range for him. He however was able to go out that evening by himself and lay down his first doe with a bow! I was thrilled to see the enjoyment he had flowing through him. That boy is hooked now!!! As for myself, I dont even have a single buck on cam that even deserves a second look. They are all scrubs. I will be making it out as the weather gets cooler, then I will atleast be putting a doe down. I will keep you all updated. Gd Luck all!!
Well sat in all the wrong spots this weekend. Trail cams showed the deer were getting lucky. They are there though. Had 5 deer walk through the big plot opening morning. Was thinking about sitting there as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Got out a few times this week but wasnt able to put one down. I had plenty of chances at does but just kept holding off for a buck to make an appearance. Last night I had a nice 10 working the edge of the old corn field and the woods I sit in, he was heading right towards me and at about 65 yards drops down into the woods I am sitting in. Just my luck he hits the trail that leads right in front of me but headed the wrong direction and away from me. He really looked nice walking away!
Got out for the first time yesterday guys. It rained all afternoon so I just sat over my brassica food plot. It wasn't where I wanted to sit but at least I stayed dry. I'm going out again tonight after work. I'll be able to sit where I wanted to yesterday. Hopefully they'll be on their feet moving!
Got out of work late, so I'm back over the food plot behind my house. Hoping to just break the ice and see some deer.
I'll be in the stand Friday night and probably Saturday night on some good stand locations that I only hunt once or twice a year. One is public that I usually see deer everytime from and the second is a private farm field that is along a tree edge. I hope to get a doe down as neither place is known for shooter bucks. I am not going to the cabin this weekend so I am hunting from home.
Well went for a lil cruise here in Indiana last night was alot more impressed than recently. Saw a number of good bucks along with nearly 100 does. Even seen about 140 inch 8 point that was still in full velvet. When in the same field was another huge 9 that was slick and clean. So hopefully things are starting to move again and season will be another good one as long the heat stays away. Also going to KY this fri and sat finally so hopefully get something done there.
Well boys got the cloths out bag packed and bow set. Off to bed and head to KY in the morning. Hopefully with any luck we will be on the board by sat evening.
I went and pulled the card today and got 4 different bucks I haven't seen before. That makes 6 total, 2 of which are shooters. Hopefully the younger ones make it to next year or the year after! I'll be in the stand at 5:45 am Saturday morning, that gives me about an hour before shooting light. Going to hit the range after school tomorrow for some final practice. Can't wait!
