Made it back to the house. No bucks were out today. Might try again tonight, but it's not looking good for the captain .

Checked my two cams today and only had one 1.5yr old & does on one and 3 1.5yr olds & does on the other. I am confident in time I will have some shooters(giant 3.5yr or 4.5yr old +) on both cameras.

Thanks Swamp. I was talking about it with my father in law on the drive home. I was feeling bad that I haven't (didn't) fill my tag and he reminded me that if hunting was easy, everyone would do it. I will walk away from this year with a list full of lessons for next year.

Thanks! Just saw clockwork outside near the woodline in my back yard,,literally 5 minutes ago. winter coat coming in,,antlers getting lighter and lighter in color....he is not showing face nearly as much anymore, which had originally earned him his name!! Chunk is all but vanished, haven't seen him on camera in almost a month now...

Just got back from checking the local camera and doing some work on my blind I built. I believe I'll be able to knock out 50 points early if things keep the way they are for another month. Does are in there very regularly in the morning and evening. I know there are at list 2 awesome bucks around as well so maybe I'll get lucky with one of them.

Awesome news on the regular does. Would you show some of your blind pictures?

I didn't take any today and the next time I go back may well be to hunt it. If for some reason I go back in before I'll be sure to take some though. There's not much to it though.

Well Tim, you gave it your best shot. Is there no other archery deer in your area after Aug?

There's the late season, but I didn't draw a tag for it. Nevada only allows one tag per species per year, so I can't get an archery buck and a rifle/black powder doe, etc in one year. I knew going into it that the early hunt would be hard, I just didn't realize HOW hard. High country, lots of hiking.

Thanks for the support, I did feel real bad about not getting anything for awhile.

** I am going to try, emphasis on try, to see if the Dept of Wildlife will let me "exchange" for a late archery.**

Don't ever feel bad about not getting anything...live and learn. Now you can focus on being captain of the winning team...

And we will!! And that was part of the conversation that my father in law and I had on the ride back. I definitely feel better prepared for next year, where we'll win again!

Matt what kind of bows do your kids shoot? I'm looking at getting my oldest one for his birthday.

Hey guys, I feel the need to apologize for not posting much and being non existent this week, my mom had her cancer surgery and there were complications, I spent most of every day and two nights in her hospital room. I will get out this fall right now I feel very unprepared for the season my mind has not been on hunting which trust me is really rare. I wanted to apologize and let you guys now I will try to contribute more than I have just be patient with me for a little bit.

Congratulations! Best job in the world, hands down. Time certainly will fly by. Where are you going to be working? I'm a career firefighter in Norwich, CT.
