what held held gps are you using and does it work good in thick woods? I was looking at the Dakota 20.
I use a Garmin Rino 530Hxc and love it. Works great and the two way radio built in is a great feature! Sent from my BNTV600 using Tapatalk 2
I usually have my 5 year old Garmin eTrex with me, but I hardly ever take it out. I use my iPhone more than anything.
I have a garmin Oregon 450. I've never tried using it in that thick of cover. It works amazing out west though. Sent from iPhone
Most of my experience is with the Garmins. Big thing is to get one with the High Sensitivity receiver - makes a big difference. Have seen while hunting timber for elk where my old Garmin would really struggle to get dialed in and my dad's Vista HCx would lock down satellites with no problem and would rarely loose signal... I have the Oregon 450T and really like it - has done well for me out west and hunting whitetails around home in some pretty thick stuff as did my dads Vista... Again - long as you stick with a high sensitivity receiver you should be OK.
I went with the Dakota 20, gets on satellites instantly and woks grate in thick woods. I use it with base camp and also down loaded birds eye imagery. so happy with this gps
