Like I said this will be the first time I've been in the contest. I thought it might be fun to try although I've never thought of hunting as a competitive sport.
Other than checking in on what others have posted and logging in deer seen, missed, shot or killed what else do I need to know?
Last season I got a picture of the deer below. I think this will be a P&Y world class spike. I hope to get more pictures of this deer to see if he's changed from last year. If not this is the deer ill be after because his genetics must end. Beside I think he looks cool and unique. This is not to say that I won't shoot any deer that comes into range.

Pointers IMO, hunt how you hunt, shoot what you shoot, enjoy your team with a little trash talking....and have fun!

This contest is unique and I think there is a reason that BIG is not in the name. This isn't about who is shooting the biggest bucks but more about the interaction with your team and the others. Good luck this season and have fun with the contest. Bye the way that is a cool looking deer :)

I think the biggest thing is don't change how you hunt just for points. Last year I had it in my head that I wanted a 140"+ deer. I based this off what I was seeing on my trail cams and hearing about from surrounding farmers and I had meat in the freezer from a side of beef we bought so I wasn't really in need of meat, not just because I was in a contest. When it came down to it I believe EHD got the best of the bucks around and I was only able to pony up 50 points on a doe. But I don't really think my team mates cared because I was active and checked in a regular basis. This year will be different. I need meat in the freezer. It wasn't in the cards for us to buy a side this summer also on my main place to hunt I have seen nothing in the way of bucks. So unless something drastically changes this fall I am going to go out shoot the biggest bodied animals I can and if they have something nice on their head then great.

Just hunt and let the point fall where they may. Enjoy the interaction with your team.

As everyone said, enjoy yourself. I've become really good friends with a lot of guys I got teamed with over the years. Plus, next year when you're on a new team, you'll have other people to cheer on (or smack talk)

I wouldnt get caught up in your genetics post...... That isnt bad genetics.... Thats like saying you or i have bad genetics because your toes are shorter than mine.... Although i have to say, i have pretty nice toes..... Ask a biologist and get thier opinion.... Most "mutations" or irregular racks are caused by diet, not genetics.... Look up the condition know as "foundering".... Hunt deer for the hunt, not the prize and recognition....

It's cool to be involved with your team mates and compare rut activity amongst all parts of the country. Great support and really camaraderie is the key. Just check in and enjoy

First off welcome to all the first timers! I say just keep the chat going even if you do not get a deer. Motivate your team and help each other with tips and all. You might be shocked on what some of the guys do while in the stand. LOL
