Was out this past weekend trying to call in some coyotes. Had 3 nice toms walk right by us. We realized why once we saw a stranger walking across our property. I got a picture of the guy and then got a picture of his license plate. Got a neighbor that is a cop that should be able to figure out who it was.
No hunting today. Going to try tomorrow morning and maybe mid afternoon tomorrow. Looks like one of the best days out of this week. I'll be able to hunt all weekend. Good luck to everyone.
This morning didn't work. Hopefully nothing comes up this afternoon to get out. Looks nice out right now. I've actually had better luck in the afternoon where I'm going. I know that sounds weird, but I think the toms are henned up early in the morning and I don't sound sexy enough.
Got out yesterday afternoon for awhile. Got some gobblers revved up, but they were too far away. Didn't see anything.
I have been out the past two days, lots of gobbling on the roost. Monday was the best as far as action, was working a bird from 7:30 to 8:30 but he hung up at 60 yards and would not come any closer. Rainin like heck today so hopin to get out tomorrow morning and all day Friday. What do you guys usually do when you get a bird hangs up? There were no hens with him

I usually either call more or less. Change the variations of calls. Most times I've called a bird in I've been quiet. I try the less is more type of thinking mainly because I know I'm not an expert at calling turkeys.
Do you guys have any experience with a strutting Tom decoy and submissive hen decoy? Picked up the pretty boy and pretty girl set the other day.
I got the Pretty Boy and Pretty Girl last year. Had good success with them. Had the tom I shot run right at the decoys. It will also depend on the age of the birds in your area. Younger birds may be more timid because of the full sized strutting tom. Good luck with them.
Had a good day yesterday. Saw and heard lots of birds. Got a gobbler to come running in. Got a shot and hit him. Arrow was stuck in him and he ran away. Found blood. Looked around for over an hour. Lost arrow and lost bird. Coyotes have it by now if it died. Not really sure how the bird didn't fall.
I use g5 t3 broadheads. I hit the bird from the front. Talked to a buddy and he said that is the least likely shot to kill a bird with a bow. Hit him in the middle of chest from a stand in the air. He was close and the arrow went through, but not completely. I'm almost positive he died, but I could be wrong. Nature is tough. I almost wonder if he flew once he went out of sight over the hill. I didn't hear him flying though. Still would like to know what happened. His wings weren't hit. Didn't ever find the arrow either. Went out for a very short sit today. Really windy.
