Weeeee, it's a little blustery. The property owner tells me he's seen a couple of nice size bucks in the past few days. Too bad is antlerless only. They should be dropping their antlers anytime now. He said he's had 8-10 coming in in the afternoon late so here I am. I just hope it's not too windy for them to make an appearance.

I saw 5 come out in the neighbor's yard at 6:15. I watched them browses on the lawn for a few minutes but figured they wouldn't be coming my way or at least before dark. Then all the flags went up and they ran off the other way... Day was done time to go.

I think the VA bowhunting season goes until march 28? Am I right? Nevertheless, I am super jealous!! We only get to Jan. 1 here. Good luck on the rest of the season.

It goes until the last Saturday in March. After that its only properties that get Kill Permits. That season runs from the first Monday in April until the first Monday in September.

Yes, northern VA is overrun with deer.
Yesterday on my way to work the vehicle in front of me had to stop for a doe in the road. The funny thing was it was in the exit form Mc Donald's. I wish I had my camera ready. The caption "One Escaped" might have been funny.

Extended deer season, and no underbrush, that is awesome!

Different hunting seasons from state to state are interesting to me.
Down here, season usually ends around New Year, we have extended season for does and spikes until around Jan 20. There are special permits that are issued by state biologists for heavily populated ranches that can extend until the end of February.
