I made a new Raxx site 2 weeks ago, and they haven't torn this one up yet. I had snow over mine for a week or so, so it should really pick up any time now. No need to worry
Well, im scratching my head now. The only action ive had at the site has been me checking the cams. I decided to spruce it up a little. Put out some corn and Monster Raxx cherry attractent. I also set up another spot. I have an old unused horse pasture behind my house that gets alot of deer traffic, perfect place to set up a licking log... With spring fast approaching, hopefully the heat gets turned up quick!
I think it will pick up once one of them finds it and realizes its there. Then after that you will need to buy some more bags
Your site will pick up dramatically after the frost leaves the ground. The does will dominate the site for a while just before they drop their fawns. Then the bucks will start hitting it. The bucks really hit my site Hard in mid July and keep going until they shed their velvet. Sent from my Galaxy S3 and Tapatalk 2
Im sure your right Greg. Ive never had minerals out this early before, but with the nice weather i spent some extra time in the woods. My goal is to have these licks produce for a number of years from here on out. Ive been lazy with not re-supplying my licks in the past and they have gone cold.
Good to hear mines not the only one that hasn't picked up yet. I had a couple pictures of a doe but nothin much other then some coons, squirrels, a Fox or two and a skunk hahahah I'm still bein patient and ordered another bag of Monster Raxx to have on hand for after the spring thaw. Keep us updated on how it's goin
where can i get this stuff at? every place around here sells the "deer cain" i have set out mineral rocks but would like to try the monster raxx products.
I've never had much activity on mineral sites during the winter. I freshened up some MR sites last weekend and checked trail cams and noticed significant increase in activity. Spring is almost here.

Holy crap your woods are open. How much of your 100 acres is like that? Where do you have this lick? Is it anywhere near bedding? Near summer food? Just randomly thrown out in the woods? I find that my mineral sites need to be somewhat close to either bedding, food or in between where they are going to travel. The ones I have started in the middle of nowhere don't get much action, no mater what brand it is.
Read the thread boss The lick is located right on the edge of a very large horsetail swamp that he deer use to move to and from the property. Alot of my 100 acres is open like that, as it was logged maybe 15 years ago? It can get thick around the field edges though. Heres a few more pics of my woods: Heres a view of the swamp im located by: I had a lick here from 2008-2010 that produced very well, but it got cold when i started school and didnt replenish it.
Its easier to just ask than to read your ramblings. Your mineral licks will come to life. Though, as important as your licks, would be to thicken that woods up. You need to be hinge cutting some trees.
There are a few overgrown fields just over the border on the neighbors that i do have permission to hunt, ect. Ill post pictures when i can.
