Sweet! I drew back on one tonight but instead of stepping from behind the tree she walked directly behind it out of sight! It was bizarre. Anyways good job dude! Way to get it done! :tu:

I did get out yesterday morning. Did not see any however, scrapes and bucks rubs all over the plance. They must have been roaming after the rains we had late Saturday night. Can;t wait to get back out.

    bowhunter - Way to go!

I shot a small doe yesterday guys. I had to make a decision to either shoot the doe or a huge turkey that were standing at the base of my stand. I went with more meat and points. Congrats Bowhunter18 on your doe.

Good work on the does! Hope you have TWO pictures with the deer and bow.

I got out for three sits this weekend. I saw a new buck on the neighbors ground, Im thinking his is around 130. Other than that, nothing close enough to take a poke at.

In other news, I found three more EHD kills. Two does and one dandy buck. The buck was a 5x4 who was fresh out of velvet and would probably score right around 150. It sucks so much seeing a dead giant like that, especially laying 20 yards from one of my stands.

I will get in a couple hunts this week and a lot of hunts next weekend. I witnessed my first signs of rut this weekend too, so that is encouraging.

Now we are starting to rack up the points. Congrats doe killers.

I had 2 close calls this weekend. The first was Saturday evening. I had a big old doe come in from behind me on my right side (right handed) She fed on acorns 15 yards out to my right. I tried to slowly stand for a shot, but she caoght movement and busted out to 40 yards behind some limbs. Stood there looking at me forever and then just left.

Second was Sunday morning. Had a spike and a forky come by feeding on acorns within 15 yards. Grandpa wasn't with them this time.

Saw NOTHING this morning. I was in the bedding area and was really confident that if bucks were around, they would be on their feet in that area. EHD is really showing its toll. Most years, it would be nothing to see a dozen deer and multiple mature bucks during a morning sit like this. I guess this is what happens when you find 9 dead deer (three mature bucks) on 20 acres of land.

Time for Plan B. Some of the stuff I rifle hunt has a couple of ancient tree stands from my pops. I dont know what to expect, but it is worth a go.

Kind of a make or break hunt for me this morning. If I go again without seeing a single deer during what should be some prime rutting, that will leave me feeling pretty defeated.

In other news, Im looking to acquire permission for some new property today. It is kind of late in the season, but what do I have to lose? I know deer are there and will be there when rut gets heavy. Wish me luck talking to the landowner!

Good luck JM! I have enjoyed following your season through Facebook.

I will be back in the woods at deer camp from 11/3 thru 11/10 so I hope to put a nice buck down. Stick with it boof they will come unless every last one of them was killed by EHD. Try something different like your dads old stands and you might be on to something. Good luck to everyone that's out hunting.
