Only thing I hate worse than a squirrel is two squirrels. Heart about came out of my chest waiting for that deer to come out.

Going to wait it out a bit longer but looks like the doe fawn on the way in will be it.

First public land big buck encounter! Think it was about an 8 point walking behind the first row of standing corn at about 33 yards. Must have been bedded in there. Looked like he was looking right at me while he walked by! Biggest deer I've seen, except on TV or videos ;)! I tried to rattle, grunt, and even gave a snort weeze, to no avail.

Thanks! I'm still pumped! I need to get a hang on with sticks. I had to settle for a tree that was a little further back, because I had my climber. The tree I wanted would've put me 17 yards closer, but it had multiple trunks. :banghead:

I could sit out here all day! Wind out of the north but it's starting to pick up a bit here in south eastern wisconsin.

out in the blind. wasn't supposed to leave for the cabin til this morning but decided to leave last night. 3hrs of sleep but gorgeous still morning starting in the upper 20's. first time out in the field alone (5 trips with the brother in law) trying new spot off a trail on some public land thanks to some help from a couple guys on BH.com. looking for my first deer (never hunted before the end of last season).

Just got off work in the stand I go...sleeps been hard to come by with these cold mornings. I can't justify sleep until bones on the ground :sly:[IMG][IMG]

Passed on an 8 and 9 ptr this morning. The 8 and a 10" spike were tickling antlers..the spike was pushing around the 8. Pretty cool to see!

Nice. Wish I could head up tmrw but I'm not. Probably gonna head up and move my cam and do some scouting Sunday though. The more I think about it the more I think its not in the spot I want.

I wanna get further back in there.

rewashing clothes at the moment. Should be in stand by 2...I hope. Just got a call...they will start the pipeline next week that will be running right through my farm. They didnt say an exact day, so tomorrow could be my last chance really. I mean sure, the deer will still move and I have woods deeper in that shouldnt be effected, but they really are cutting right through my best area, taking probably half of my white oaks from me, and will be right next to the bedding area that holds the bigger bucks. Its tough news forsure. So hopefully I can get it done tonight and not have to worry...well see. Weather seems right and I seen my main target buck last night near the stand Im heading to tonight, so it could happen.

Saw one video where they used a bracket so the camera will point down, then used a climber to get it up high in the tree. I might try that next season.
