Its hard to say what exactly happen, other than she was shot. Our archery season starts Oct 1, the day these pictures were taken. But we also have an early antlerless and youth season which was the weekend before theses pictures were taken. I dont hunt this property until right around Oct. 25-ish, so I havent been able to see this deer in person.

Wounds like this not always from an arrow or gun. Could be from something she ran into. Fence, limb, steel post. Running full out thru woods or fields away from a yote or dog could raise all kinds of hell..

Looks like she was smoked in the shoulder with a 2-blade expandable head.

Looks like someone hit her front shoulder with a 2blade expandable to me. Little to no penetration. She's feeling it, you can tell by her hunched posture.

I would say she is definitely feeling it....looks painful. I would say someone smoked her in the shoulder. You would be amazed, but she will probably heal up and be fine if someone doesn't shoot her.

I'll add that the hunter probably "smoked" her and his Rage "didn't open"...

Looks like it opened to me..... bad shot placement by the looks of it! Unfortunately it happens! She'll be fine!

Definately looks like a broadhead wound to me. I too would say she'll survive unless she gets some sort of horrible infection. The deer does look in pain though.

    Blessings........Pastorjim

If that was a 2 blade rage from a 60+ lb bow it would have blown through her shoulder.. My guess would be someone shooting low poundage didn't get any penetration. Or she got cut by a fence.
