Truck is packed and ready to go......I always forget how much crap we "need" to kill a deer. And now I'm SHOCKED at how much crap it takes to hunt with a beginner in a double set! My truck is a mobile Cabela's. LOL
We both have doe tags too so something is probably in big trouble.
Good luck guys will update from the woods. Alarm goes off at 2:30AM. :(

Welp it was a good and bad morning. I was in just about the right spot and had a nice doe come into the pine thicket I was sitting in. Came in just outside of 30 yards so i probably shouldn't have even taken a shot but I did. The arrow hit a tree limb and deflected - probably destroyed. I found the busted but still lit nockturnal about 20 yards away.

So the good - saw deer in the stand and I was in the right spot. The bad - lost an arrow, Killzone and broke a nockturnal. I also think my rest got bumped or something because the arrow fishtailed a bit on the shot (which probably caused it to hit the limb in the first place).

Gonna try and paper tune the bow now and see if I can get back out this afternoon.

Didnt see anything this morning. Moved to a stand by my food plot and it got crazy. Saw about 20 deer total. 5-6 small bucks. Just never got close enough until it go too dark. Had a couple to my left but I couldnt draw due to so much **** in the way. Trimmed some branches before I left so should be set for next time.

    Anyone get anything?

Had an "interesting" morning...... slipped in 1hr before first light to discover 3 stands stolen including the double set I had planned for Kathi and me. Ugh......to say I was unhappy would be the understatement of the year. I didn't bring a groundblind so we just winged it like a run and gun turkey hunt and settled under a big oak with some cover.
It almost worked as 3 does slipped up just at first shooting light and saw "something" they didn't like. The lead doe started stomping at us from 10 yards away and turned broadside but Kathi couldn't see the crosshairs clearly so she didn't shoot.
Fun experience and the first deer she's ever seen while hunting.....and the first time she's ever had a deer blow at her! LOL I could feel her flinch the first time hahaha! :) She had a ball even though in my mind it was pretty much a CF.

Sat a great groundblind set in the evening over a bean field and 8 does used the wrong trail in front of us and stayed out of range.

So we probably would have had one had our stands still been there but she saw deer, had an opportunity and that was the goal.

Well sat last afternoon had a doe and 2 fawns come in, couldn't get a good shot at the doe so I held off. Had a spike come in as well. Went out this morning and got skunked except saw a coyote but moving too quick and wasn't stopping. Heading out again this afternoon to see what happens.

Shot a 2 1/2 year old 8 pt. on Sat. morning at 7:45. Not a giant, but still a good buck for public land around here.
Points on the board for the team. 100 2/8"

Good luck everyone and keep knocking them down!

I can't believe how many times I've read in this forum and in HuntingNY.com about guys having stands stolen. I purchased a Summit Viper this year and I'm kinda leary about leaving it at the bottom of the tree (even though I hunt on private property). Seems like courtesy ethics in hunting have gone out the window.

So glad you are seeing deer. Tomorrow our season opens - dentist appt in am... THEN it's hiho hiho off to the woods I go!

We gotta' get on the board...

OOPS... Mr Antlerman posted his 8-point while I was typing. YIPPEE... WE'RE ON THE BOARD!!! :nana:

Thanks guys! Sorry Matt/PA, 97 inches short of last years, so much for the highest gross score buck this year. Should have time to get a doe before the year is over. Another 50 points would still be cool.

Big congrats Rory!! Way to get the ball rolling for us. Hopefully I can help the team out soon. Been awfully slow so far this year. Seen does, fawns, and a spike. Still don't have much for pictures of bucks.

Sorry to hear about your stands Matt. I wonder sometimes what, if anything, goes through peoples minds when they steal from others. Glad you were able to improvise and make the most out of it. I'm not sure I would have been able to handle it that well!!

Good luck everyone and lets be safe!!

Well Im headed out this afternoon for a hunt over my food plot. Hunted there saturday afternoon and saw a lot of deer but didnt have a shot on any. Yesterday I moved one of my stands and trimmed some lanes on my ladder stand. The wind looks like it will be in my favor so Im feeling good about today.
